In a Word - superb! 5 Jan 2002
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
In the traditional Airlife format, this book covers some very tasty subjects indeed, 50s/60s jetliners. The excellent front cover photos attracted me to this book, and those inside do not disappoint.
This book makes me extremely jealous of Mr Vicenzi, and while I am also an aviation photographer, I do not have the experience, skill or subject range that he has. His photos are very well composed and are crystal clear.
I strongly recommend this book to all fans of early jetliners, or indeed aircraft in general.

Book was good, but not as great as I had hoped for. 4 April 2002
By Sgt. Disney - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
It may have been that my expectations were a little too high. After all, this is one book dealing with 3 different types of airliners. Don't get me wrong, I don't regret my purchase, and I would buy it again, but it isn't exactly what I had hoped for. The section on the Convair airliners was very short, but maybe that is to be expected since there not not many of that type made. Overall a good book, but not one of the best.

Too many freighters! 9 Nov 2005
By With Favourable Winds - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Overall, this book is quite good. If you love the DC-8, 707, and 880, then you will be pleased, but y ou might be disappointed to discover that most of the photographs are from the 1980s and 1990s, during the twilight of these airliners when they mostly carried freight. There are very few aircraft in the liveries of their original owners/operators. The text itself of the book (neither the photos nor the photo captions) is rather sketchy, with only one page per plane, and the data tables for various variants (given in the back of the book) is in the metric system only.

Wonderful pictures and very informative text. Breaks down the first 3 U.S. built airliners in great detail along with list of crashes. A must have for any airliner enthusiast
