Reviews

From Amazon.co.uk

Eagle Eye reteams Shia LaBeouf with his Disturbia director D J Caruso, and the two of them prove once more that they know how to knock out a decent thriller. Kicking off with lots of serious faces, military advisors and a decision to make about whether to bomb a target or not, this quick, brutal introduction not only kick starts the plot developments, but it also brings in the advanced technology that underpins much of what Eagle Eye does. Not that it’s all that plausible, but it’s the kind of film that very much rewards turning your brain down a notch, and being willing to sit back to be entertained.

Should you do that, then Eagle Eye is a very enjoyable tech-thriller, that papers over its cracks by racing out of the traps at speed, and never really looking back. Fortunately, it remembers to keep you entertained as it does so, and Shia LaBeouf already eats roles like this up in his sleep. The plot of Eagle Eye finds LaBeouf’s character receiving a mobile phone call with strict instructions to do exactly what he’s told, else things are going to go very wrong, very quickly. Michelle Monaghan is in a similar position, and the pair of them find themselves caught up in a sinister plot that we won’t be spoiling for you here.

Now granted, you can drive trucks through some of the plot holes here, and likewise, there’s ground covered here that Cellular did perfectly well. Yet Eagle Eye is what it is: solid blockbuster entertainment, starring a man whose star is very much on the rise. It might be a hard film to love, but it’s equally hard not to enjoy it. --Jon Foster

5.0 out of 5 stars Eagle eye soars high............. 10 April 2010
Format:DVD
Eagle Eye is without doubt one of the best action films I have ever seen. I first saw it when on holiday in florida and, loving it so much, bought it when we got back and thoroughly enjoyed it again and again. Shia LaBeouf is incredible in this film, as is Monaghan.

The plot itself has got to be highly praised for its depth and overall brilliance. The writers must be extremely talented to create such a real world for our leading characters Jerry and Rachel to stop an impending terrorist attack. These two people are "activated" and forced to do things that they would never do in there normal lives (when I say this, I dont mean it in terms of cutting off their leg or eating someone's feet like in SAW or HOSTEL!).

An absolutely fantastic film which I can guarantee will have you falling off of your chair because you sat too far off the edge of your seat!

If I could, I'd rate it 6 stars!

2.0 out of 5 stars Eagle Eye - look elsewhere for a decent film. 3 Mar 2013
By The Truth TOP 100 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Blu-ray
Lead astray by the good reviews here I bought Eagle Eye to watch on a film night with some friends. By the end all agreed it was rubbish.

The story is absolutely terrible. It goes beyonds on the realms of unbelievable into the ridiculous and it doesn't help that the cast are terrible in their roles either; I think they too realised, 'well this is going to be a terrible film so let's just get it over with.'

It's one of those films where you can imagine the team of writers thinking, 'hey that's a great idea!' But in reality, it sucks.

There is zero tension, zero emotional involvement, zero anything intact - except hurriedly put together action sequences, which in any other film would probably be quite good. But not in this because you just want the thing to end. Oh yeah, that's the other thing - it's about 1hour too long too.

If it wasn't for the special effects this would absolutely terrible... Which it is anyway. I know this review is riddled with typos thanks to auto correct and my fast typing, but the film is so bad, they honestly don't deserve to be corrected so I'm leaving them as is.

2.0 out of 5 stars Such a bad film.
It starts off ok-ish, and gets progressively worse and worse. Very little realism in it, and no chemistry between the two main leads. Good special effects I suppose.
