Amazon.co.uk Review

The "cell phone thriller" is becoming a genre unto itself, and Eagle Eye should be considered a key example of the form. Frankly preposterous but compulsively watchable, this movie puts Shia LaBeouf in a mess of trouble instigated by a mysterious telephone voice. If he doesn't follow orders, dire things will happen--although when he does follow orders, the consequences are pretty dire, anyway. Also being blackmailed is a single mom (Michelle Monaghan) receiving similar phone calls. Why are they being jerked around by the purring female voice, and why is the road leading to Washington, D.C.? Actually, you won't have time to contemplate these questions, because director D.J. Caruso (who guided LaBeouf in Disturbia) keeps the action going at the customary breakneck pace. This is a wise move, because the real questions you'd likely be asking have to do with the plausibility of events on a minute-by-minute basis (most notably: how could Mysterious Phone Voice possibly know that the two pigeons would survive the hoops she makes them fly through, each one more death-defying than the last?). The actors tumble through this mayhem like scattering bowling pins, including Billy Bob Thornton and Rosario Dawson as government agents. Nobody has time to make much of an impression, and LaBeouf has much less room for puppydog charm than he did in Disturbia. Even that would be all right within the movie's berserk parameters, but the really irritating thing is the way the tacked-on final scenes reverse what would have been a heroic climax. No guts, no glory. --Robert Horton

Eagle Eye is without doubt one of the best action films I have ever seen. I first saw it when on holiday in florida and, loving it so much, bought it when we got back and thoroughly enjoyed it again and again. Shia LaBeouf is incredible in this film, as is Monaghan.

The plot itself has got to be highly praised for its depth and overall brilliance. The writers must be extremely talented to create such a real world for our leading characters Jerry and Rachel to stop an impending terrorist attack. These two people are "activated" and forced to do things that they would never do in there normal lives (when I say this, I dont mean it in terms of cutting off their leg or eating someone's feet like in SAW or HOSTEL!).

An absolutely fantastic film which I can guarantee will have you falling off of your chair because you sat too far off the edge of your seat!

If I could, I'd rate it 6 stars!

BRILLIANT!!!! 12 April 2009
Format:Blu-ray
i just finished watching this movie. OMG it is brilliant. i must confess that i did not buy this. i rented it from BB. was not expecting anything impressive but i must admit that this movie is fast paced, action packed, on hell of a roller coaster ride.
the story is not that far fetched as some have suggested. interestig plot line and spectacular action sequences. the pic quality is excellent as u can see (even count, lol) the pimples on the heros face.
oh and i agree DO NOT READ STEPHEN STEWART'S REVIEW. it will spoil the film for u.

This is great. Teen heart throb that does not insult intelligence of 50 year old. And makes you think. Good stuff.

Quick paced
A Very face paced movie. Slightly far fetched, although entertaining. A film that makes you think about today's surveillance society.

Nothing Special Here
Potentially a very good movie, the storyline seems great but fails to live up to expectations. Average movie but still probably worth watching.
