I bought this to replace an identical, older unit in my grandfather's PC that had stopped working after being damaged. I wanted something that would be simple and quick to install, so opted for the same unit. It arrived later than hoped from the retailer, but was basically simple to install, as hoped. The only proviso to this is that the range of connectors on the new unit were slightly different than the older unit, and there had been nothing to warn me. However, this only caused a few minutes of uncertainty, until I figured out how to take this into account.
This may not be suitable for more recent computers, without purchasing adapters for the cables, as there have been some changes in power connectors. However, for people wishing to keep older PCs operational, or building a PC from spare older parts, this unit seems solid and well-made.
I have not given 5 stars purely because I have no direct experience of the unit, so would not want to mislead anyone. However, the reports from my grandfather do not lead me to think it should not receive 4 stars, as it has been reliable and low in noise output. The damage caused to the older version was in no way related to the design or operation of the unit.
