I have 8 of these and they are thus far they are proving to be very effective. The light temperature is almost exactly the same as the outgoing halogens as is the beam angle. The only slight complaint I have is that they are a little less bright than the halogens, but not by much say 45W instead of 50W. The shame for me is that I also have a single exmaple of an Exergi Hyperbright that was 4.4W and was slightly brighter than this model. The old unit is now discontinued but has given excellent service for a year now. If the new units last as long as promised they will pay for themselves but that was not my main reason for changing. The kitchen, which is where these are going, had originally 12, 50W halogens and although this gave excellent light the heat was ridiculous and unpleasant. With this latest batch I will have that down to 3 halogens and with virtually no heat. Can't be bad the whole kitchen lit for 186.4W instead of 600W and when I replace the last 3 just 48.4W.

I am distraught! I bought 10 of these bulbs at vast expense to use in a new 240V track. This was replacing a tired pair of 12V tracks, which had a total of six 50w MR16 bulbs to light a kitchen 14ft x 10 ft. Guided by reviews here and elsewhere, I thought that the new set-up would give me approximately the same level of light, perhaps a little more. NO CHANCE! The general level of light is now about half what it was. There are many more dim areas, in spite of light from 10 sources rather than six. The centre of each spot is much less bright than a 50w halogen and the spread is pathetic. Having been a fairly brightly lit room, the kitchen is now downtown Gloomsville.

In order to try to give an objective basis of comparison, I have looked at the general levels of illumination in other rooms. I can get a similar overall level, with a more even spread, in a slightly bigger room (14ft x 12ft) using one 60w incandecent and a 14w low energy compact fluorescent (equivalent to ~120w in total). I get a slightly brighter outcome in another, larger room (18ft x 12ft) by using two 60w incandescents and an 18w Cfl (~200w equivalent). All those comparative lights have glass or fabric shades, are placed round the perimeter of rooms, with none at ceiling height, whereas the kitchen track runs down the central axis of the ceiling. And the evenness of lighting is so much better from the older technologies.

On the positive side, the light from these LEDs is quite warm. There just isn't enough of it. My observations suggest that the 'uprating factor' for LED illumination is no more than 4 or 5 (comparable with Cfls), and certainly much less than some claims of "up to 10 times". I just don't see how other reviewers can seriously compare this LED lamp with even a 35w halogen - if they had been right, I wouldn't be writing this review and wouldn't be nursing the feeling of having wasted a lot of money. Potential buyers BEWARE!!

Love the bulbs. Nice warm light; far superior to the LEDs these replaced. Well worth the extra cost. Unfortunately one failed within a couple of weeks so in the process of returning.

Excellent, well designed product. I have replaced 4 of the 8 50W GU10's in my kitchen with 3.6 W Exergi's. This is the first 4W Exergi I have bought. The colour temperature is slightly different from the 3.6W bulbs so I have fitted it in the bathroom, and will progressively replace the remaining bathroom 50W GU10's with these, and the remaining kitchen GU10's with Exergi 3.6's.

I bought these along with Edison 4w and 6w. The Exergi E2 bulbs are warmer and a better colour reproduction of our halogen bulbs compared to the Edison warm white. They also fitted the ceiling spot-holders well as their size is similar to a halogen while the Edison is slightly more bulbous immediately behind the bulb that made it a very tight fit. The Edison's bulbs looked well made and I saw very little difference between the Edison 4w and the 6w (my wife could not tell the difference). In terms of light output, I have 6 Exergi E2 in my dining room and most people could not tell the difference if I did not tell them these were LED (I can tell that there is slightly less light but I was looking out for it). If of interest my lights are connected to a dimmer switch (although I don't dim them) and it worked fine with no buzz or any other ill effects. They are expensive but seem to have a good warranty. The lights came from Amazon and in their packing so I am assuming my warranty is also with Amazon.

I ordered 4 of these recently to replace some 50W halogen GU10 bulbs in our bathroom. The light colour is indistinguishable from the original halogens - I compared 1 bulb of each type side by side. The luminosity of the LED bulbs may be very slightly less than the outgoing halogens but is barely perceptible. Considering these use only 1/12.5 of the power, have a much longer lifespan and have virtually identical performance I am very happy with these and can honestly recommend them. I will soon be purchasing some more for other rooms with GU10 halogens.

Oh I should also mention these are exactly the same dimensions as the halogen GU10 bulbs and so can be used as replacements even in tight fittings.

Very pleased with this item, having recently purchased 10.

I was weary about the "Very warm" glow, having tried numerous competitors in the past; being disappointed by colour temperature. These give an excellent colour, being comparable of that to standard halogens. Like other reviews though, I would suggest the intensity is NOT equivalent to 50W output, but more 35W. If you are choosing these for a new installation, then I would recommend no more than 80cm centres (Or further from walls). That gives a good all round output.
