4.0 out of 5 stars Unexspekted Quality from an Unknown Brand 27 Feb 2011
My apologies for the terrible pun, but I wouldn't normally find myself buying a product so flagrantly pushing its gimmicks in your face. I have had these for 3 days now, and bought them from a store which is hardly renowned for its range of A/V equipment (and paid quite a bit more than the asking price here - but that's a given), and I was actually quite shocked when I first plugged them in.
First off, the negatives: unless you have lug-holes which are like mineshafts - these earphones are going to be a tight squeeze to force in, and I must say it didn't take too long before my ear canals were aching - I believe that this is something that we must get used to, as unlike the type that hang on the outside they do feel far more secure. The "interchangeable end caps" are corny in extremis with their ever so gaudy colours, but the main issue with them is they are a real fiddle to screw in properly as they have so little thread to connect (no wonder you get so many choices as losing them must be common).
My main reason for actually giving them any consideration was that I had noticed the steel braiding on the cable (which isn't obvious here), something that should make them more resilient than most of the main brand earphones which have the tendency to lose contact somewhere along their flimsy cables' length. One of the things that has bothered me about all headphones in recent times has been the connection around the plug end of the cable, and unfortunately in this instance the plug is solid, not providing any resistance for the thin plastic sheath surrounding the braided cable which could prevent it from being sheared off over time - but this is a hurdle some distance away.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great sound but very average quality 31 Mar 2012
Verified Purchase
I have had 2 pairs of these headphones now and am in a quandary as to whether I like them or not. The sound quality is excellent, absolutely no complaints there. The build quality on the other hand? The interchangeable coloured discs do indeed come off at the drop of a hat. They are presumably a very attractive gimmick (aesthetically speaking) but having to put a new set on every week becomes tiresome. The other issue, and this is not solely restricted to this set of headphones, is the weakness of the wiring around the headphone jack. The previous pair lasted approximately a year of simply being used whilst walking to and from work before the sound in the left ear went, the current pair has gone after about 6 months.
These are, in my humble view, impeccable sound wise but I wish they came without the spangly bits and with a 90 degree jack.
