I personally do not see what the big deal is with En Vogue's last full length album, "Funky Divas." Yes, it sold more but that does not neccessarily make it a better album. To me "Funky Divas" just seems way off its use-by date. "EV3" on the other hand, I can guarantee, is far much better. Even after 5 years since its release it still sounds like it could have been released today. Every track is equally good.

"Whatever" makes a perfect opening track and "Don't let go" is one of the most powerful tracks on the album. The sexy "Damn I wanna be your lover" is another great ballad and "Too gone too long" is probably the best track, and I am not usually into ballads at all! From here the album becomes more upbeat (with exception of "Sitting by heaven's door") and really puts you in a good mood, especially the catchy "Love makes you do thangs." The bonus track "I've got your gun" gives the perfect end to the album.

Most people claim that EV3 was a really poor effort by this multi-talented group when compared to the success of "Funky Divas." I beg to differ. This really is an album which should have done better than it did.

BUY, BUY, BUY!!! 26 April 2001

I have all the En Vogue albums right from the first album 'Born To Sing' right through to the latest offering 'Masterpiece Theatre'.

EV3 was the first En Vogue album i bought and will always have the 'best album' title in my collection. These ladies led me into hip-hop/r'n'b and i am yet to find another group on par with En Vogue. Destiny's Child and the rest don't come close!

EV3 is an album that you need to have to fully appreciate the work and talent that these three lovely ladies have.

I have to agree with the reviewer below, I fail to understand why this album is knocked so much - I personally feel that this is their best work. I love the acoustic feel to many of the songs and feel that they stretch their vocal talents the most on this album. The three singles are amazing and other high points include 'Damn I Wanna Be Your Lover', 'You're All I Need' and 'Love Makes You Do Thangs'. The only two slightly disappointing tracks are 'Does Anybody Hear Me', which is great but with no backing music it can become repetitive after repeated listens, and 'Let It Flow' which again drags on towards the end.

I feel that this album is more rounded and less hit and miss than Funky Divas.
