Eco-Friendly Halogen Lamp with High Resolution Camera

GuardCam is supplied with a low energy grade C halogen lamp, offering an equivalent to older Grade D lamps with lower running costs.

GuardCam’s integral camera offers clear image recording in video or still frame format. Night images retain colour and clarity due to automatic halogen light illumination.

Built in DVR records Directly to 2 GB SD Card

Up to 750, twenty second video sessions or 1500 still images are recorded onto the
2GB SD card, which is supplied with Guardcam. Older images are deleted and overwritten as the card reaches capacity ensuring recent events are always available.

Built in DVR records Directly to 2 GB SD Card
Time and Date Setting Time and Date Setting

A simple set-up procedure will allow you to input the exact year, month, day and time
that will remain within GuardCam, ready to be applied to all recordings. In the event of
mains power failure. internal back-up batteries ensure the settings are not lost

Easy Replay on Windows Media Player

GuardCam comes complete with an SD to USB converter. Simply remove the SD card from GuardCam, insert into the converter and plug into your PC's USB port. The recorded images can then be launched and stored using Windows Media Player or any other suitable media software.

PIR Motion Detector Sensitivity and Time Control

PIR Motion Detector Sensitivity and Time Control

GuardCam detects the presence of intruders with proven PIR (passive infra red) technology at a distance of up to 12 metres from the unit. A photocell is employed to ensure activation is restricted to day or night operation at the users discretion

GuardCam's PIR can be adjusted to provide the best coverage whilst avoiding false triggers from passing traffic, animals etc. The time control adjusts how long the halogen light will remain activated after the first trigger.

Other Great Features

GuardCam has the option to deliver one of three messages upon activation. "Warning you are trespassing", "Warning you are being captured on video" and finally a barking dog (more effective than you may think). There's also the option to have no voice alert.

Mode selection allows the user to choose the most suitable combination of GuardCam’s functions. Light plus video at night, sound plus video in the day etc.

The important SD card and time date controls are secured behind a waterproof door that can only opened with the supplied allen key.

After looking at the various reviews I decided to take a risk and purchase one of these.

Its easy to install and setup with only 3 drill holes needed (1 for power and 2 for the fixing screws). As commented on another review, the date/time setting screen is small and fiddly but doesn't take too long. Setting the position of the camera is easy too but be aware that it can only move side to side and NOT up or down. This means that you shouldn't install it too high as if you do the camera will miss the person. A height of 2m seems to be pretty good.

There are a few issues that people should be aware of. The product description says it has a range of 12m but its actually 10m maximum. Also the battery back up does NOT protect the audio mode selection (voice, dog bark or off) or the video mode (pictures or video). This means if you disable the audio warning when its triggered, after a power cut it will go back to the voice when next triggered. Note that the video mode reverts to video after a power cut too.

Be aware that the audio mode and light mode are not protected by the access door which means people could play with the settings - but then you'd see them as to get close enough you'd trigger it.

So far it's been reliable and works well. I especially like the fact it looks like a standard PIR light.

There's talk of a new version being developed. I hope some of the improvements are:
a connector for the power cable rather than screw terminal,
    a 3rd fixing screw,
    better backup of the settings,
have all the settings protected by an access door.

Inshort, its pretty good and does the job - just a shame about the battery backup not protecting all the settings.

So all arrived, in good condition including bulb and SD card, Allen-key etc... A little fiddly to set up as some parts and buttons are cramped, but usable. This item is only held to the wall with two screws (which I have upgraded as the ones included are fairly small and flimsy. Overall it's a working product but I cannot yet vouch for the longevity of it yet. I have noticed they are being used on a local building site though, so clearly good enough for their purposes, and discrete! - looks like a light!

I have found the pictures to be poor quality, OK for seeing whats gone on but no good for recognition of the person. Also was difficult to orientate the camera as had to keep taking out the card to see what was being captured.

On that note, I had planed to try and use this product with an Eye-Fi Pro X2 8GB Wireless SDHC Memory Card card I have, to send my images to my computer over my wifi network at home, sadly it does NOT support that :-( So I shall have to remove the SD Card to view the captured content. The manual states it only supports SD cards up to 2gb, maybe this is the issue as I understood the eye-fi card to appear as a standard card to the camera. It wont see any SDHC cards ether.

So: Does what it says, no more, slightly expensive in my opinion.

Purchased and fitted recently,8th Sept.,very easy instructions to follow, set up takes a little bit of trial and error but overall an easy Diy fit.
It works great, the floodlight and voice alert are a startling combination, enough to deter most unwanted visitors i would think.Overall,a well made, sturdy, quality product that i would recommend highly.

    Verified Purchase
When I purchased this light there were no reviews. As this was an expensive product, I decided to use it for a while before writing a review. This is a new product for ESP, and I believe it was released in January 2010.

It is a very well designed and made product, and looks very good. You can proudly install it at the front of your property.

The light works very well, and I beieve that it can be a very effective deterent. The 230 watt is more than adequate for anybody.

The camera works tiressly, it even captures flying birds. Sometimes, it records even when there is nothing abvious
moving out there. However, the camera is ok only for recording people you know or the police can identify from the general appearance recorded.

As I was interested in purchasing another unit, I phoned ESP technical support and asked if they have plans to release a new product in the future, with a camera that can produce better images. I added that I myself would not mind paying more for this. However, as this is a new product, obviously they need to wait for the feedback first.

The voice messages are very effective. However, I think the barking dog will only be effective with dum burglars.

Instructions and manual are excellent, and installation is straight forward. I did recommend to ESP to put at least three screw locations on the back (only two at present), when mounting to a wall. Different modes for use are offered, and are very useful.

Now, I intend to buy other ESP products, as I was very pleased with the responses from ESP technical support, to my queries.
