Back on track 26 Sep 2008
Format:DVD
After a transitional period, the twelfth season of ER is one of the best in recent years. The main storylines revolve around Luka and Abby getting back together and some life changing decisions they have to make. After the departure of Carter and the reduced role of Kerry Weaver, it also sees them come to the forefront as the show's lead characters. There are also some big developments surrounding Michael and Neela and his decision to return to the army. There seems to be a bit more stability in this series as characters such as Ray, Sam and Morris begin to bed in.
There are some great guest appearances from Kristen Johnson as Nurse Manager, Eve, and John Leguizamo as the troubled Victor Clemente.
Amongst the stand out episodes are All About Christmas Eve, I Do and The Tragic Hero and the Gallant Victor. However, there are others, and I feel it's a fairly strong season overall. There is also a brilliant cliffhanger of a season finale, one of the best, which is sure to leave you dying to see the next episode. Unfortunately not in this box set!!

ER season 12 6 Jan 2011
Format:DVD
This is one of the better seasons of the 'late period' of ER (past season 8/9), with truly interesting plotlines. Greg Pratt, Ray Barnett and Neela Rasgotra get the most character development this year, which is good as this changes things around a little, as most character development tended to be on Luka and Abby for the past couple of seasons. Both do get major screentime though, with their plotline, which is great as Maura Tierney and Goran Visnjic are excellent actors.
The stronger episodes for me were Blame It on the Rain, Dream House, the usual stunt episode Two Ships and Darfur. The final 3 episodes, There Are No Angels Here, The Gallant Hero and the Tragic Victor, and 21 Guns may be the strongest close to a season ever, all are highly dramatic and a pleasure to watch. Special mention must go to the episode Body & Soul, with James Woods as Dr. Nate Lennox, for a very well crafted and emotional episode, possibly the best of the season.
In conclusion this is definitely a good season, but it is worth buying earlier seasons first in order to watch the characters develop and mature. A good purchase!
