Dance-Along-A-Ditto 31 July 2011
By The Wolf TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Audio CD
This one sort-of slipped by when I wasn't watching. I'm a big
fan of Ms Ditto's voice and refreshingly unaffected persona.

This little sidestep from her work with Gossip finds her
collaborating with Simian Mobile Disco on four perky tracks.
The temporary marriage suits her well. Her larynx is somewhat
reigned-in; things are less full-on than usual; the discipline
is not a constraint however. What a very fine singer she is!

The four songs are much of a muchness truth-be-told. SMD's
schtick provides Ms Ditto with a dance-friendly platform on
which to shimmy and shake and warble happily. 'I Wrote The Book'
put me in mind of 'Deadline For My Memories' era Billie Ray Martin;
soulful electro-pop to set your toes and teeth tapping in time.
The spirit of Ms Ciccone watches (somewhat tight-lipped) from the
wings on 'Good Night Good Morning'. The eighties Human League-ish
beats of 'Open Heart Surgery' bubble and bleep in a perfectly
pleasant way and 'Do You Need Someone' rounds things off in
fine stripped-down funky style with Ms Ditto showing off a strong
upper register and a curiously cute vibrato. A worthy Disco Diva!

Recommended.

I just got this recently and have been playing it on a loop.its just perfect pop music.ive got a couple of gossip cds and really like them but id love to see the band go in this direction,i know its probably a bit too mainstream for the band to do but well see what 'a joyfull noise' will bring when its released in a few weeks, its produced by brian higgins which sounds like it could be an amazing collaboration,im quietly excited!

Gossip becomes fact: Beth is a dance diva 8 April 2011
By Falsetto Prophet - Published on Amazon.com
Anyone who has shaken their booty to the New Order bass line and gutteral shriek of The Gossip already knows, Beth Ditto has got pipes you can dance to. But who knew she could deliver smooth, sensual vocals that shimmer over delicious dance beats? Enter partners in crime, Simian Mobile Disco (purveyors of one of my all-time favorite club tracks, The Hustler), to provide the soundscape and world class production.

If you like Robyn's Body Talk, Britney Spears' Femme Fatale, Madonna's Confessions/Dancefloor (or heck, any Madonna), Girls Aloud's Out of Control or the last Yeah Yeah Yeah's album, then this is the EP for you. This heaven-made match began with a single track on Simian Mobile Disco's last album, now this EP - please please please drop a full-length next!

dig the diff. 17 Mar 2011
By Kevin D. Corcoran Jr. - Published on Amazon.com
if you want something that isn't candy coated pop, this is for you. Straight raw and rugged, these tracks are a huge step for Beth toward establishing her solo project. I think it's going to be a huge hit in the underground... her first video - "i wrote this book" is so gnarly!

Definitely give this ep a shot...
