Product Description

Ex-military scientist Robert Ringrose has succeeded in creating a clone of Planet Earth, harvested from the mass of a single stone, a planned new home for all Mankind reachable only through a terrifying transmitter known as the Smash-Hypo’ - but his very first journey there might be his last...

One year later, fourteen-year-old Danny Ringrose knows his parents vanished without trace. That’s all he knows. His father Robert, head of the outlawed Human Enhancement Program, accused of growing soldiers in a lab, and ridiculed for repeated attempts at cloning stones. His mother Beth, renowned botanical geneticist. Danny has always suspected the military were behind his parents’ disappearance - and has always suspected he himself might be a product of his father’s early work, his own strength far superior to his friends.

And then there is the mysterious building site beside Danny’s house - three years ago workmen tore down the disused car showroom and replaced it with a barren stretch of dirt, at the centre of which a single pit has been excavated, hidden from the road and all surrounding viewpoints by a ring of portacabins. From his bedroom window Danny has the only vantage point allowing him to see into the pit mouth – he has witnessed the other-worldly machinery taken down there, never to return, and the sombre scientist who occasionally pokes his head out, wanting nothing more than to remain unnoticed.

Danny knows there is something important happening right beneath his town - beneath his house! Could it be connected to his parents’ disappearance?

Intrigued by the cryptic comments of Rasmus Creece, a feared stand-in teacher at Danny’s school who seems to know more about the building site – and what lies beneath it - than he is telling, Danny decides to investigate... and stumbles into a hidden research facility, where a team of renegade scientists headed by Danny’s father have succeeded in not only cloning a single stone, but in creating Segnimedia, a perfect carbon copy of Planet Earth.

But it soon becomes apparent that enemies are striving to bring the Project down, to utilize Robert’s discoveries for a darker purpose, one which threatens the future of humanity.

Only Danny can fight the evil on the Empty World!

MOVE OVER HARRY POTTER - THE NEW TEENAGE HERO IS HERE, he's genetically enhanced and as curious as the proverbial cat! Very readable, very enjoyable and very mind blowing at the possibilities it presents. A great adventure for the fledgling Sci-Fi fan and the hardcore die hards alike. Good good guys and bad bad guys and some that could be a bit of both? Looking forward to the next instalment.

I read this because I've just finished the Ice and Fire series and wanted a decent little read. The cover and blurb appealed, and for the price I took a gamble. What a bloody discovery, a fab plot, credible characters - both good and bad - and a really tense read, the word page turner was made for this book, read it in a single sitting! Roll on Book 2, a talented author for sure
