An idea with potential 10 July 2011
I like and approve of what they are trying to do and am rather shocked by the harsh critcism it has inspired from the other reviewers. However, I agree about the need for more information, especially the composers' names. The lack of this kind of detail has stopped me from buying various classical downloads in the past. (I have also passed over certain jazz downloads when they do not list the performers' names.) Anyway, thank you for the free tracks and I hope they create a wider interest in the music.

Amazon Verified Purchase
The original comments I made below were appropriate at the time but I am delighted that Amazon have put things right and when I downloaded the tracks again today they appear to have included most of the information one would expect for a classical download. Well done Amazon for taking note of our comments and I have increased my original 2 stars to 4 stars (quality still not as good as a CD so not 5).

My original comments were as below:

It is actually a free download at the time of writing this (and apparently till the end of July),in spite of the appearance on the web page. The tracks are decent enough but I wholeheartedly agree with the other comments that there is a lot of important information missing for each track. It is just about possible to add this manually if you click on the artist and this brings up the CD the track comes from or a selection by the artist from which one can deduce the specific track. But many people would find this difficult unless familiar with the music already. Not specifying the composer is unforgivable but typical of sites that tend not to specialise in classical music - if it were pop/rock we would probably only be interested in the artist and may never know the composer.

If Amazon are going to be serious about downloads of classical music they need to understand the genre rather better!

Well it looks like Amazon have read the previous reviews and done something about it. This is a genuine attempt to create a bit more interest in both classical music and MP3 downloads, and for that it gets my vote.

Where is it
It is rather hard to review this collection as after several unsucessful tries at downloading it I gave up. It has yet to arrive at my computer. Good job it was free! Read more

Er...it's free!
Of course it's irritating and self-defeating not to have listed the tracks properly, and it's good to see revised reviews, but let's make sure I've got this straight - this... Read more

Very poor sound quality.
It shows the difference between mp3,with its limited frequency range(similar to Edison's Phonograph without the crackle and hiss) and true hifi sound-better to buy a cd.

A great taster selection to whet the appetite
A lovely selection of tracks (taken from recent new releases by the looks of it) which will appeal to anyone who, like me, enjoys discovering classical music (but sometimes needs... Read more

Totally useless and unprofessional.
Fully agree with the previous review. This is absolutely unprofessional and absolutely useless. Who is the target audience? Those who know nothing about music? Read more

no composer info - duh!
Whoever set up this page needs a little help. Terms like 'Sonata' and 'nocturne' are meaningless generics without composer details included. 'Artist' is the performer.
