Interesting read 7 Dec 2010
Format:Paperback
This is really a book of case studies with a small amount of commentary. Most of the commentary is by either Ms Shapiro, or written by the "victim". I have to say I got a lot from it. One of the really great things about it is the actual EMDR parts are written up almost verbatim so you get a good idea of what's going on - which is often surprisingly little. Most of the case studies seem to come from early trials of EMDR. War veterans, bereavement, rape and lots more suffering. I found it very, very moving.

This sat on my table for about a month before I finally got to grips with it and then I found I couldn't put it down. I've had fantastic results with EMDR in my own work. But, I've not worked on cases as complex as in this book.

Thank you for sharing this with us Ms Shapiro

Unsure.... 23 April 2008
By Someone
Format:Paperback
I have just began doing EMDR therapy. When I started reading this book, it boosted my confidence with regards to my treatment. However, I found it a bit too positive, almost evangellicaly written.
So far, my EMDR treatment has been effective, but I have doubts over it being effective quite as quickly as it was implied in this book.

It works 29 Aug 2011
By Hector
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
EMDR is now a recommnded treatment for PTSD, and is being applied in other areas also.

EMDR allows traumatic events jammed in short-term memory, and encroaching into ongoing life, to be separated into factual and emotional components and then stored normally.

Try it!
