A masterpiece.Other reviewers have asked how do you follow up the groups first album?-with a masterpiece!Firstly to counter the other negative reviewers-Yes it has lots of misogyny, threats of violence-(so did their first album)this is the group who did "a b*tch is a b*tch""dopeman"this is N.W.A-what were you expecting if you heard the first album?I just dont see how you can criticise this album for that if you claim the group was greater with ice cube, when he himself rapped with extreme derogatory vocals on women-i cant understand that. Also people saying cube went on to bigger and better things-if you compare the album he released at the same time as this"death certificate"i wouldnt say it is a better album than this, and im a huge ice cube fan(the predator and his most recent album are in my all time favourite list). So yes dissapointing that he wasnt on this but at the same time then this album and his predator album wouldnt have been made and i wouldnt swap them for anything.
Anyways back on point-this album was the no.1 album in america-not the rap chart-the top 100 billboard of all albums being sold!-that is unheard of at the time-and it deserved it.The production is flawless and the lyrics and flows incredible.Upon listening to it again-this doesnt sound old like a lot of rap from that era would. There are a few comical songs and skits too, those songs being the only weak point for me,but thats just me-you are getting 9 hardcore gangsta tracks that are classics-plus you get the bonus ep 100 miles and running-which the title track and the track i believe they are aiming at ice cube are really good songs.I used to listen to this when i was 14-and im 32 now and still rate it as one of my all time favourites.

Pre 2Pac and East Coast V West Coast NWA were the premier Gangsta Rap groups. Eazy E was iconic, the lyrics are cartoonish in a adult way.
Also in a day were fools like Kanye West, Jay Z who have destroyed hip hop, this is a welcome nostalga of raw rapping.

N.W.A at their peak! The music is very good as always from Dr.Dre. You can't take anything they say seriously so do not buy if easily offended....just young men letting off steam and getting big headed for the amount of success that followed.

I First bought this album on the day it was banned - There seemed to be something special about owning a banned album - it made it seem exciting. Okay so I was a teenager at the time but this album is still as fresh as was then - take nothing away from Dre he knows a phat beat when he hears it. The major change that I've noticed in revisiting this album (which is certainly a change in me - nearly ten years later - is that I am alarmed by the lyrical content of this album - misogyny has a new definition after this album! But if you can manage to shut off your conscience for about 50 minutes you'll be loving the music a definite peak in the "gangsta" rap genre!

You can't really follow up Straight outta Compton. And with Ice Cube missing, it just doesn't feel the same, as much as the others bring to the table, Cube was the best lyricist hands down.
