This 2 disc special edition set is a masterpiece of presentation, it's beautifully laid out and even comes with a very nice 8 page booklet. The extras disc is packed with extras, in addition the picture and sound quality is of a high standard. It would seem that this DVD set cannot fail? Unfortunately, certain scenes in the film have been edited, and this is a shame for an otherwise very nice DVD. The fantastic scene where Elliot and ET, whilst riding a bike have to face an armed road block has been changed, which in my opinion is a shame because it was perfect as it was. I fully understand that the film has been revamped, but prehaps it could have been handled just a little bit better. For that reason I'll give 4 out of 5.

Brilliant film.Watched it so many times when i was younger and even now i am still not disappointed.I think theyve done a great job with the special edition.Drew Barrimore plays a fantastic roll in this movie.Top points for her acting.I had this movie on video which i recorded from the tv when it first came out,but is now ruined so im so glad i could purchase it on dvd.Very well priced.Thank god for Amazon.!!

Kids loved it

v confused as to why all of the versions of E.T. on here are so unclear as to what they are, it should not be this hard to find a normal E.T. DVD of the original film in English. Read more

Still Works!
On a modern high-end LED TV (Samsung UE40ES7000) this looks OK, but if you watch it on a TV that's a little cheaper it's noticeable less sharp. The grain is there, but it's ok. Read more
