Recently my D-Link powered hub died on me during a power surge, taking with it my new printer. Annoyed, I went to Amazon to by another hub (HP are replacing my printer free of charge!), and opted for this 7 porter, which is only a few pounds more expensive than my fried 4 port D-Link. It seems that those extra few pounds make a heck of a difference, when your brand is unknown.

Never heard of e-Solutions before, but I'm pretty happy with their little hub. Here's why:

1. Looks nicer. The D-Link was ugly, but this has a pleasingly nostalgic 90's Mac look about it. The indicators at the top are more useful than D-Link's hidden ones.
2. Laid out well. Instead of trying to cram all the ports on one side, they're spaced out on two. Four on one side, 3 on the other.
3. Surge protection! Damn, if only I'd bought this to begin with.

So far it's coping nicely with multiple devices attached, and large files being copied over from USB sticks (and I might be imagining it, but faster?).

Recommended.

I have a fairly old computer and over the years have accumulated more things that connect by USB than there are ports on my computer. Reading the existing reviews satisfied me that this was the one to buy. It arrived quickly, worked out of the box with no trouble. It sits on the desk unobtrusively and to date has caused no problems. Having acquired this 7 port hub I think I should have gone for the 10 port option.

E Solution 7 port hub 10 Sep 2011
I required another USB hub and as per usual the more slots the better, as you can never have too many of them. Mac computers are faithful old sloggers but why on earth do They only put so few connections on Their computers. With all the different accessories that go on computers these days, even usb power supplies, I have two for my active DVI adapters plus the conventional requirements such as keyboard etc, those on the computer are soon used up.
This unit arrived promptly from Gmax enterprises neatly packed. This is a very smart little box with the seven connections, with a compact power supply with a sensible length cable. It was placed on top of my computer. All cables were plugged in and away it went. I only have to use the power supply when I am operating my triple screen display with the two DVI adapters. This is understandable as power is required to supply the screens with data. All other connections such as usb sticks, keyboard, card readers etc. run on the m/board bus.
This has now been in use for many weeks now and I assume any problems would have by now appeared.
