Product Description

More fabulous fabulation on the theme of time-travel and its paradoxical implications for the unfortunate Trafalgar Hurlock and the rest of the Evolution Limitation Volunteers.

In E.L.V. I, Trafalgar’s team had discovered John, the practical joker who invented the mice who have destroyed the post-sleep world’s data banks of history. Now they need to put things right for the future – but that proves easier said than done.

Bouncing around between the Stone Age, Florence in 1506 and a Roman amphitheatre, every correction that the team makes seems to lead to another historical paradox.

From the Back Cover

'It is almost always extremely unwise to rely too heavily on logic where time travel is concerned …'

Trafalgar Hurlock, time-travel pioneer of the post-sleep world, needs to go back in time with his team from the Evolution Limitation Volunteers to sort out some unfortunate effects generated by the last time they went back, when they were trying to sort out … well time travel is a complicated business. Or it was. Or it will be, depending on how you look at it

Bouncing around between the Stone Age, Florence in 1506 and the Roman amphitheatre, every correction the team tries to make seems to make matters worse than they were. Or will be. Or won't be, or …

This has to be one of the most ingeniously hilarious sci-fi books that I have ever read. Nielsen takes the standard way that you think while reading books and twists it inside out with masterful effect. The first chapter will force your brow to flex into a confused frown and then lift itself when you finally realise what is going on. Buy it, Read it and ENJOY it!

ELV is the funniest book I have read in a long time! It has such a wierd, wacky and completely mad storyline that you can't put it down, but you would probably not want to read if you read the blurb. It is basically about people years and years in the future, who know nothing about life before the 'Great Sleep' where everyone but a few scientists went to sleep, while the world was made a better place. Unfortunately, the world was instead left with giant houseflies and evil computer-mice! Yes, I know, but just give it a try, it's great!!!

Almost as Good! 10 Nov 2000

The First ELV book in the series was, really, pretty hard to outshine, with it's confusing but very exciting storyline and hysterical characters. But Nick Nielsen's second installment does actually come pretty close! You know what they say, sequels are never as good as the original, which is mostly true. But this book makes a good, truly enjoyable read, without comparing it to the first. Again it is full of time travel and references to parts of history that it's characters do not understand, which can be very funny. Now onto the third, then...
