Product Description

Dyson DC39 Multi Floor
Dyson DC39 Multi Floor full-size Dyson Ball cylinder vacuum cleaner for all floor types
Technical details:
  • Patented Radial Root Cyclone technology for no loss of suction.
  • Musclehead tool – automatically self-adjusts across all floor types.
  • Ball technology – turns on the spot. Central steering mechanism for greater control.
  • Engineered for reduced noise levels.
  • 5 year guarantee – parts and labour.

DC39 Multi Floor is a full-size Dyson cylinder vacuum with Ball technology for greater manoeuvrability. Wheeled vacuums can be awkward – heavy to pull, head the wrong way and collide with obstacles. A Dyson Ball vacuum cleans without the awkward moves, turning on the spot. DC39 Multi Floor also has a central steering mechanism for greater control. The pivot point is located near the centre of the machine, so it can make tighter turning circles and more easily follow the user’s path.

DC39 Multi Floor comes with a Musclehead tool that self-adjusts across all floor types and has a low profile for cleaning under furniture. On hard floors the brushes stay in contact with the floor, removing debris from the surface. When the cleaner head moves onto carpet, the pile agitates a surface recognition switch. This lifts the brushes, exposing the carpet to the dual channel edges that remove dirt trapped within the weave.

Dyson cyclones capture more dirt than any other. DC39 Multi Floor has Radial Root Cyclone technology with remodelled airways to maximise suction power. Like all other Dyson vacuums, DC39 Multi Floor doesn’t lose suction as you clean. There are no bags to replace and the lifetime filters are washable, so there are no extra costs.

DC39 Multi Floor has been engineered for reduced noise levels with no compromise in performance. The essential components are located inside the acoustically treated ball.

Dyson DC39 Multi Floor
Patented Dyson technology

Dyson engineers are constantly testing and inventing, trying to find new ways to make their technology work better. As they work, they file patent applications to protect their inventions from copycat manufacturers. That’s why the only place you’ll find Dyson technology is inside a Dyson machine.

DC39 Multi Floor uses the following patented Dyson technology:
New Radial Root Cyclone technology

Ordinary vacuum cleaners rely on bags to trap dust and dirt. As you use them, the tiny holes in the bag clog up with particles of dust. This restricts the flow of air, so the vacuum cleaner loses suction.

Dyson vacuum cleaners don’t rely on bags to trap dust and dirt. They use cyclone technology, which spins the air at incredibly high speeds. The cyclones inside a Dyson vacuum cleaner generate centrifugal forces many thousands of times the force of gravity. Dust, dirt and pet hair are flung out of the airflow and straight into the bin. No bag. No loss of suction.

Dyson has been continually refining cyclone vacuum technology since inventing it more than 20 years ago. DC39 Multi Floor has new Radial Root Cyclone technology. Reconfigured air channels and improved flow efficiency reduce turbulence and preserve air pressure, so that the inner cyclones can extract more microscopic particles. These refinements help remove more dirt, dust, allergens and pet hair from the airflow.

DC39 Multi Floor includes:
Ball technology

Dyson Ball vacuum cleaners use Ball technology to overcome the steering limitations of fixed wheels. They ride on a ball, which turns on the spot so you can steer with ease, changing direction with just a turn of the wrist. The ball also holds the heaviest component (the motor) – positioned towards the base for a lower centre of gravity and greater stability. The machine moves easily around obstacles, and the ball’s smooth surface means that it doesn’t dig into carpet pile.

Musclehead tool

Self-adjusts across all floor types and has a low profile for cleaning under furniture.

A central steering mechanism

The only cylinder vacuum with a central steering mechanism for greater control. The cyclone pack articulates with the chassis, so it’s easy to control when moving around obstacles.

Reduced noise levels – ball engineering

No compromise in performance. Essential components are located inside the acoustically treated ball.

Extra tools

DC39 Multi Floor comes with a Stair tool, and a Combination tool with a debris nozzle that converts to a brush tool for dusting.

Clear bin lets you see when it needs emptying

The bin on a Dyson vacuum cleaner is transparent so you can see when it needs emptying – and just how much dust, dirt and pet hair your new Dyson machine has picked up.

Captures allergens, expels cleaner air

Dyson cyclones capture microscopic particles down to 0.5 microns in size. DC39 Multi Floor also includes a HEPA filter as an extra safeguard for allergy sufferers. It traps microscopic particles down to 1/5,000 of a pinhead, including pollen, mould and bacteria.

No extra costs

Other vacuum cleaners are still designed to need replacement bags and filters – and the cost soon adds up. Over 5 years, you could end up having to spend up to £175. Dyson vacuum cleaners don’t need bags and have lifetime filters, so there are no extra costs to worry about.

5 year parts and labour guarantee

Your Dyson vacuum cleaner is likely to take a few knocks and bashes during everyday use – but that’s nothing compared to what Dyson puts its machines through during testing and development. All Dyson vacuum cleaners undergo a lengthy and rigorous testing programme. That’s why DC39 Multi Floor comes with a free 5 year guarantee – parts and labour.

5.0 out of 5 stars A nifty cleaner 14 Mar 2012
By Sue H TOP 1000 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
I've been using this Dyson for several weeks, and find it's a great vacuum cleaner. :)

I've compared its performance with my 18 month old Dyson DC22, which is a smaller more compact model, and with a 10 year old non Dyson vac which uses bags.

Manoeuvrability
The cleaner is advertised as more manoeuvrable than previous models, and I have found it more stable than the DC22. The Dyson web site states that this is down to ball technology with the motor being within the ball, this must apply to their previous models as there is no where else in this style of cleaner for the motor to go. The wheels on the ball are fixed, but rounded to produce the ball shape. The increased manoeuvrability cf other Dyson models is due to the mechanism under the ball, where the hose/shaft joins the device. The handle can also rotate on the shaft, and with a low profile head I found it much easier to vacuum in tight corners.

Operation-Size/weight
The machine is quite light, 7.5kg and made almost entirely in plastic, which appears strong enough for light to medium domestic use. I don't expect to see my local builder using one to vac up lumps of plaster as he does with his current machine, not least of all as the Dyson has a cut out mechanism to prevent unsuitable rubbish from going through the machine. (Browsing the Dyson web site there is also a smaller lighter version of this product the DC38.)

The chord is 6.5m I bit longer than the DC22, and makes a difference in our house, as it does not need to be unplugged so often when moving from room to room.

There is a a HEPA filter useful for allergy suffers, ( however the DC39 animal is specifically recommended by Dyson for pet owners.

3.0 out of 5 stars Dyson DC39 28 Mar 2013
By chriss
Verified Purchase
Having had the D1 for about 15 years I did not want any other make. Now living in Portugal I was unable to find a store selling Dyson for me to compare the latest models. I, therefore, spent hours on the site reading all the reviews and got completely confused. I am in my 70's and suffering from arthritis so I needed something light. I also needed a long wand as I have high ceilings. I dismissed the new mini uprights thinking they looked too much like toys and would be too small for my six-bedroomed house. Having more hard surfaces and fewer carpets I eventually decided to go for the cylinder model. At first I thought I had made a dreadful mistake. It was heavier than I expected and the instructions in pictures were a bit vague. However, I eventually got used to the difference between high and low suction and now I am happy with my choice. The only slight concern I have is the trigger that raises the suction. This has to be held up whilst vacuuming carpets and my fingers find it difficult to maintain their grip. Once again, Amazon delivered on time and the item was well packaged. However, anyone else buying from abroad should realise that you lose the guarantee because of the difference in the plugs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very reliable 20 April 2012
By White Eagle TOP 1000 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Dyson Vacuum cleaners are always well built using high quality material and this one it no exception, In fact I think its an improvement on my old DC11 which indecently still works very well indeed after 10 years. Every part fits together perfectly and is well engineered. They use very high quality plastic and metals that gives it a quality feel. They are no bags so, in my opinion, you can remove and the dust collector and wash it if you wanted to (do so at your own risk).

The unit rolls around effortlessly and you can hardly notice it following along behind you, its almost like a pet dog following you. The head automatically adjusts for different floor type which is nice touch but we'll have to wait and see if it'll pass the test of time and remain functional after continuous use.

All in all I was very impressed with this unit, the only quibble I have with Dyson is that they opted to move their manufacturing abroad.

2.0 out of 5 stars No good for carpet...not "multi-floor" at all! 26 Aug 2013
By CYL
Having used upright Dysons for years, I read other reviews and decided to try a cylinder. We have a range of flooring in the house - carpet, tiles and vinyl flooring. The suction was so strong that it was really difficult to push the head along the carpet. With deeper pile carpet, the only way to move the head was to effectively pull it towards you, so you ended up moving the fibres all over the place. A great way to ruin your carpet.

The worse thing was that it didn't pick up long strands of human hair from carpet! Note that because this model does not have a rotating brush design, the head just pushes hair along the carpet and doesn't pick it up. It does not reach up a flight of stairs either, so it means you have to carry it part way up the stairs. And because of the size of the cylinder, it doesn't sit firmly on a single step, which means you have to balance it awkwardly while you try to clean the remaining steps above you.

To call this model 'multi-floor' is totally misleading. Tiled and vinyl flooring is fine, but it is totally useless for carpet. It takes so much effort to move the head around AND it doesn't pick up hair. Not what i expect from a Dyson. A very disappointing purchase considering how much it cost. Luckily, I was able to exchange it for an upright Dyson DC40.

I have to laugh at the statement in one of these reviews that Dyson's are "always built of high quality materials". I've had a DC11 and now a DC21 Stowaway. Read more
