Product Description

DC25 Multi Floor (previously known as DC25 All Floors)

Lightweight Dyson Ball vacuum cleaner designed for cleaning every floor surface.

DC25 Multi Floor is a lightweight Dyson Ball vacuum cleaner that uses patented Root Cyclone technology for no loss of suction. It has been engineered for powerful cleaning of every floor surface, with a motorised brush bar that can be turned off for hard floors and delicate rugs.

DC25 Multi Floor also includes patented Ball technology, which allows you to steer with ease around obstacles such as furniture and household appliances. It rides on a ball, so there's no more pushing back and forth to turn corners.

At just 7.4kg, DC25 All Floors is one of Dyson's lightest full-size uprights.

DC25 Multi Floor includes:

Have you ever got frustrated pushing an ordinary upright vacuum cleaner back and forth, back and forth to steer around furniture and other obstacles? Have a look underneath it, and you'll see that's because it sits on fixed wheels – perfect if all you want to do is travel in a straight line, but not so good at corners. Frustration is an important source of invention for Dyson engineers – it sparks new ideas, new ways of solving problems. It was their frustration with fixed wheels that led them to develop a new way of turning corners.

Dyson Ball upright vacuum cleaners use patented Ball technology to overcome the steering limitations of fixed wheels. They ride on a ball, which pivots around itself so you can steer with ease, changing direction with just a turn of the wrist. The idea for Ball technology came about from a Dyson engineer studying new ways to steer. It started crudely - an old wand handle attached to a wheel. Eventually the wheel became a ball - and an ideal home for the motor.

The ball itself is made of glass-reinforced polypropylene – the same material used in the manufacture of car dashboards. It combines high impact strength with resistance to distortion. The ball is also where you'll find the motor. By putting the motor inside the ball, at a neutral point, Dyson engineers were able to lower the machine's centre of gravity and improve manoeuvrability even more.

Motorised brush bar for powerful pet hair removal
DC25 Multi Floor has a motorised brush bar for removing dirt and pet hair that have lodged deep inside carpets. The stiff bristles on the brush bar spin at high speeds - up to 90 times per second – to agitate the carpet pile and dislodge dirt and pet hair so that it can be vacuumed up and removed. Don't worry if you also have hard floors or delicate rugs – the brush bar can be turned off so you can use DC25 Multi Floor on these surfaces too.

Quick-draw Telescope Reach wand for cleaning stairs and other high-reach areas
When you want to clean awkward-to-reach spots like stairs and ceilings, you can use the quick-release wand on your DC25 Multi Floor. It extends by 16ft quickly and easily, with no awkward components to assemble. You can also attach tools and accessories, extending your cleaning abilities even further.

Washable HEPA filter for clean expelled air
DC25 All Floors includes a sealed HEPA (High-Efficiency Particle Air) filter – the same filter used by hospitals – to trap tiny particles as small as 0.1 microns. That's about the size of a single particle of cigarette smoke. Particles this small include common household allergens such as pollen, mould spores and dust mite faeces.

The air expelled by DC25 Multi Floor contains up to 150 times less mould and bacteria than the air you breathe. And because the filter is washable you won't need to replace it. Just give it a rinse once every 3 months with cold water.

Hygienic bin emptying -

Clear bin lets you see when it needs emptying
The bin on a Dyson vacuum cleaner is transparent so you can see when it needs emptying – and just how much dust, dirt and pet hair your new Dyson machine has picked up. Emptying is quick and hygienic – just press the button to release the dirt.

Approved for allergy sufferers
Dyson upright and cylinder vacuums are approved by 12 allergy associations worldwide, including the British Allergy Foundation (BAF) and Allergie Suisse. Allergie Suisse approval is one of the most stringent in the world. To secure, it vacuums have to provide constant suction and separation performance so that they don't lose effectiveness while you clean.

No bags to throw away
The bags in ordinary vacuum cleaners clog with dust and dirt, causing a loss of suction. After a while the suction can fall so low you have to replace the bag – and throw the old one away. A lot of vacuum cleaner bags these days are made from a mixture of plastic and paper, which means you can't recycle them. Like a lot of waste, they end up in landfill, where they take years to decompose.

With a Dyson vacuum, you can simply detach the clear bin and empty it onto the compost heap. Biodegradable dust and fluff will be broken down naturally into useful fertiliser. With no bags to replace, you won't be adding to the landfill problem.

No extra costs
Other vacuum cleaners are still designed to need replacement bags and filters – and the cost soon adds up. Over 5 years, you could end up having to spend up to £175. Dyson vacuum cleaners don't need bags and have lifetime washable filters, so there are no extra costs to worry about.

5 year parts and labour guarantee
You'd be amazed at some of the tests Dyson carry out on their machines to make sure they're as tough and reliable as possible. During development, a push/pull rig moves Dyson vacuum cleaners a minimum of 4,452,651 feet. The hose is kinked 7,280 times. The bin is opened 1,560 times. Upright vacuum cleaners undergo 207 different validation tests, cylinders 235. That's why Dyson are so confident in their machines they guarantee all their uprights and cylinders for 5 years – parts and labour.

Inside of a Dyson Cyclone Root Cyclone technology for no loss of suction.
Patented Dyson technology

Dyson engineers are constantly testing and inventing, trying to find new ways to make their technology work better. As they work, they file patent applications to protect their inventions from copycat manufacturers. That's why the only place you'll find Dyson technology is inside a Dyson machine.

Root Cyclone technology for no loss of suction
Ordinary vacuum cleaners rely on bags and filters to trap dust and dirt. Air is meant to flow through tiny holes, leaving dust and dirt behind. The problem is that when you use them, these tiny holes quickly clog up with particles of dust. This chokes the flow of air, so the vacuum cleaner loses suction.

Dyson vacuum cleaners don't rely on bags to trap dust and dirt. They use patented Root Cyclone technology, which spins the air at high incredibly high speeds. The cyclones inside a Dyson vacuum cleaner generate centrifugal forces many thousands of times the force of gravity. Dust, dirt and pet hair are flung out of the airflow and straight into the clear bin. No bags, no loss of suction.

    Update October 2013
Some 5 years later we have had no problems with this Dyson. So it IS robust, a brilliant design and does the job superbly.

We used to own a Dyson, and it was brilliant - easy to use and it sucked up so much dirt compared to other makes of vacuum. However, it wasn't that robust and only lasted a couple of years. We then bought a cheaper vacuum which only lasted about the same time - the trouble was it didnt clean nearly so well.
So we came back to Dyson and this model is absolutely BRILLIANT. The design is stunning, the extendable hose is great, it is even easy to empty. And yes, the ball does make it more manoeverable (but I wouldnt buy it just for the ball feature). It is quiet compared to other machines, and the suction is superb. We have only used it for 3 weeks now, but each time I really do marvel at how good it is.
However, how robust is it? Not only does this need to be a great performer for the money (which it is), but it needs to last. So I wouldnt have given 5 stars yet, but as it comes with a 5 year warranty who can argue with that?
Perhaps I will review it again in 3 years time!

I read all the reviews before buying and the main points seemed to be that it was powerful-which it is, but that it was heavy, noisy and the return spring on the telescopic hose was far too strong.
So, Powerful?- you bet. I wanted one that would really clean and lift my carpets, which my existing Miele was hopeless at but that first clean was just like all the Dyson hype, it picked up loads of fluff and grit.Great.
Heavy? - Well, yes and no. It's no heavier to lift than its competitors but it is a bit ungainly and the strong suction with the brush bar on means that the push-pull motion may be tiring for those with bad backs.
Noisy?- maybe, but it's not an irritating motor sound but the whooshing air sound through the cyclone effect which doesn't bother me. Put it this way, if you want a whisper quiet, featherweight model, don't be surprised if the performance isn't as good as this.
Overall this is a great vacuum which I would strongly recommend for all surfaces, particularly carpets but what stops it getting five stars are two points-firstly the telescopic return spring which is far too strong and pulls the vacuum over. I understand Dyson say this is needed because of the strong suction but it is very tiring in use. The other point is that the lack of an automatic cable return in a premium priced model like this is unforgiveable. Coiling loose cable round and round in such a basic way in a supposedly cutting edge top price model like this is no longer acceptable.
A powerful and recommended vacuum but not for the weak.

Have used a Dyson DC01 for the past 15 years along with various other brands that came and went! DC25 arrived today (2 days after ordering it through Amazon!) and it is absolutely brilliant! It addresses all the issues I had with the DC01 which was best in its class at the time. The DC25 is light weight, has adequate capacity and deals with all types of floor at the flick of a switch. The ball takes the effort out of the pushing and changes of direction are effortless. Well done Dyson this is a winner!Dyson DC25 Allfloors- The Dyson Ball Upright Vacuum Cleaner - Iron Satin Yellow

As a replacement for our old DC01, which still works altho' a bit tired looking, the DC25 is a worthy machine. Less capacity for the fluff etc but a very useful cleaner. Less noise, lightweight and manoeuvrable.

Updated after a few months of ownership: really really hate this now and bought a cheap little cylinder Hoover instead. The Dyson is all about design; not about usefulness. I can see that many of its features seem like really good ideas, but I don't think the designers vacuum their own houses! It is still good at nice big carpets, but it isn't good at all with my stone floors, dusty beams and little crevasses. My original thoughts are below.

I bought this, after reading all the reviews on Amazon, to replace a Henry. I was initially very impressed as having just cleaned with the Henry not very long ago, the Dyson sucked up absolutely masses of dirt. On the plus side it does suck very well and it is designed within an inch of its life. What is really likes is large expanses of carpet. On the negative, I find it very poor at getting close to the edges under kitchen cabinets, the ball for steering doesn't really make that much odds and the hose attachment is too short and far too springy. So if you have lots of spaces that you want to get under, or high ceilings, it is not much help at all. If you have lots of carpet and no clutter - great, buy it. If not I wouldn't spend the money I'm afraid.

I've owned Dysons for many years and have found them to be very effective, but generally quite heavy and not easy to manoeuvre. This Dyson Ball machine combats this problem. It's much lighter than the older style machines and you can move in and out of spaces with ease. Gets under radiators and units with no problems. Would recommend.
