I read the reviews and bought the cleaner. They are right, it is a good cleaner and Dyson has certinaly improved the attachments since I had an upright Dyson vacuum a few years ago. Our house has no carpets, but we have plenty of rugs and a labrador who sheds loads of hairs everywhere and it deals with all of that without any problem.
It only has one fault, but it is a really annoying one for me - the noise. A couple of people have commented on this, but it is hard to explain just how noisy this machine is. The db rating doesn't seem too bad, but it must be the tone or something. This vacuum is driving me mad and it is my wife who uses the thing.
If your hearing isn't particularly sensitive or you don't mind a loud fairly high-pitched whining noise, then I would whole-heartedly recommend it. If noise is a consideration for you, I suggest you listen to one before you buy. Vacuum cleaners do tend to be noisy, but this is without doubt the noisiest vacuum cleaner I have ever come across.
I don't know how long I will put up with it before replacing it, I suspect not too much longer, which is a shame because it does everything else so well. Oh how I wish I had gone for a replacement Miele with its old-fashioned bags, but a peaceful existence!
Could have easily given this cleaner 5 stars for technical cleaning ability or 1 star because it drives me mad every time I hear my wife vacuuming (yes, she is using it now and that reminded me to post this warning!).
