Product Description

Dyson DC41
Dyson DC41 Animal Dyson Ball upright vacuum cleaner for pet owners
Technical details:
  • Patented Radial Root Cyclone technology for no loss of suction. DC41 Animal captures allergens and expels cleaner air. Dyson cyclones can capture particles down to 0.5 microns – including pollen, mould and bacteria.
  • Strong suction power at the cleaner head. The cleaner head self-adjusts for optimal contact – even on hard floors.
  • Ball technology – turns on the spot. Manoeuvres easily around furniture, obstacles and into difficult places.
  • Lightweight and durable. Less weight and bulk.
  • 5 year guarantee – parts and labour are covered.

DC41 Animal is a Dyson Ball upright vacuum cleaner for powerful all-round dirt and pet hair removal.

The machine’s cleaner head has an active base plate, which self-adjusts automatically for optimal contact with all floor types. On hard floors the base plate lowers to create an efficient seal, and the brush bar lifts clear of the floor to protect delicate surfaces. On carpet the base plate rises and the brush bar lowers for optimum bristle penetration – removing ground-in dirt and pet hair from different depths of carpet pile. And because the cleaner head adjusts automatically, there are no fiddly dials and you don’t need to bend down to make adjustments.

Dyson cyclones capture more dirt than any other cyclone. DC41 Animal has Radial Root Cyclone technology with remodelled airflows to maximise suction power. It also comes with a Mini turbine head to clean pet hair and dirt from confined spaces, upholstery, stairs and the car.

DC41 Animal also has patented Ball technology. It turns on the spot, which allows you to manoeuvre more easily around obstacles and into awkward spaces. And because the motor and other key technologies are located in the ball, there are fewer components on the outside of the machine. This makes it easier to steer closer to edges.

Dyson DC41
Patented Dyson technology

Dyson engineers are constantly testing and inventing, trying to find new ways to make their technology work better. As they work, they file patent applications to protect their inventions from copycat manufacturers. That’s why the only place you’ll find Dyson technology is inside a Dyson machine.

DC41 Animal uses the following patented Dyson technologies:
New Radial Root Cyclone technology

Ordinary vacuum cleaners rely on bags to trap dust and dirt. As you use them, the tiny holes in the bag clog up with particles of dust. This restricts the flow of air, so the vacuum cleaner loses suction.

Dyson vacuum cleaners don’t rely on bags to trap dust and dirt. They use cyclone technology, which spins the air at incredibly high speeds. The cyclones inside a Dyson vacuum cleaner generate centrifugal forces many thousands of times the force of gravity. Dust, dirt and pet hair are flung out of the airflow and straight into the bin. No bag. No loss of suction.

Dyson has been continually refining cyclone vacuum technology since inventing it more than 20 years ago. DC41 Animal has new Radial Root Cyclone technology. Reconfigured air channels and improved flow efficiency reduce turbulence and preserve air pressure, so that the inner cyclones can extract more microscopic particles. These refinements help remove more dirt, dust, allergens and pet hair from the airflow.

Ball technology to help you steer with ease

Dyson Ball upright vacuum cleaners use patented Ball technology to overcome the steering limitations of fixed wheels. They ride on a ball, which turns on the spot so you can steer with ease, changing direction with just a turn of the wrist.

The ball itself is made of glass-reinforced polypropylene – the same material used in the manufacture of car dashboards. It combines high impact strength with resistance to distortion. The ball also holds the heaviest component (the motor) – positioned towards the base for a lower centre of gravity and greater stability.

Dyson DC41
DC41 Animal includes:
Self-adjusting cleaner head

Many upright vacuum cleaners use fixed settings and their cleaner heads don’t self-adjust to different floor types. And the bigger the gap between cleaner head and floor, the more suction power is wasted.

DC41 Animal has an active base plate. It creates the optimal cleaner head contact for every floor type, reducing air leaks and retaining suction power on all floor types – wood, carpet, vinyl and tile.

Mini turbine head to remove pet hair from awkward spaces

Pet hair can gather in awkward spaces and get stuck on upholstery. The Mini turbine head attaches to the machine’s wand to remove hair from confined spaces that would otherwise be hard to reach.

Instant release wand

DC41 Animal has an instant release, long reach wand for cleaning stairs and awkward areas – it stretches up to 5 times in length. There are no separate parts to assemble.

Extra tools

DC41 Animal comes with a Combination tool and a Stair tool. The Combination tool has a debris nozzle that converts to a brush tool for dusting. The Stair tool removes dirt and dust from corners and against vertical edges of stairs.

Captures allergens, expels cleaner air

Dyson cyclones capture microscopic particles down to 0.5 microns in size, including pollen, mould and bacteria.

Clear bin lets you see when it needs emptying

The bin on a Dyson vacuum cleaner is transparent so you can see when it needs emptying – and just how much dust, dirt and pet hair your new Dyson machine has picked up.

No extra costs

Other vacuum cleaners are still designed to need replacement bags and filters – and the cost soon adds up. Over 5 years, you could end up having to spend £175. Dyson vacuums don’t have bags and have lifetime washable filters, so there are no extra costs to worry about.

5 year parts and labour guarantee

Your Dyson vacuum cleaner is likely to take a few knocks and bashes during everyday use – but that’s nothing compared to what Dyson puts its machines through during testing and development. All Dyson vacuum cleaners undergo a lengthy and rigorous testing programme. That’s why DC41 Animal comes with a free 5 year guarantee – parts and labour.

So, upon creating the new range of Dysons for 2012 it looks like Dyson have taken the Animal DC25 and replaced it with two versions; one bigger and one smaller.

The Dyson Animal DC41 is the bigger of these two versions, with more suction and a bigger bin.

One of the big complaints on the DC25 was the small bin capacity (1.3 litres), which is now 1.6 litres in the DC40 and a hefty 2.1 litres in the DC41. The other issue was with reach, which has now gone up to 14m from 12.3 due to a longer cord, so you'll have less trouble getting from one plug point to the next. The suction power on this has also been increased from 220AW (Air Watts) on the DC25 to 250AW on the DC41. So with the brush bar, which does an excellent job of picking up pet hair, this really does get every last bit of dust.

The only problem I have with this is, you just don't need that much power unless you live on a building site. I never had any problems with my DC25 missing dust, Dysons are great at this anyway, but adding the extra suction power has come at a cost.

The DC41 weighs a heavy 7.8Kg compared to 7.4Kg for the DC25 and 6.7Kg for the DC40. I'm 5'3" and that's just too heavy for me to lug up the stairs without needing a break by the time I get to the top! This is still a ball version which is better to maneuver than the standard fixed wheel variety, but still not too easy when you're pushing all that weight.

Overall, I like Dysons and I like this machine, but unless you really need the extra power then settle for the lightweight DC40.

This is the third Dyson that we have owned and they just keep getting better.
Before I bought this, I spoke to someone who really knows his vacuum cleaners as I was looking at the DC 24 which had amazing reductions at the time I was looking. He said that Dyson had made a mistake with thiat model as it had a lot of problems with the design and that they had now corrected the mistakes by producing the DC41.
The DC41 has plenty of gadgets, the extra motor in the head being just one. The first thing I noticed was the long power cable which makes a huge difference and now areas in my house get cleaned which have been ignored for ages.....
It is marketed as being quieter but I think that is nonsense, if anything it is more noisy.
I cleaned a room which had been cleaned 2 days ago with my old DC04 (it is still going but is 10 years old and ready to be moved on) and it was surprising how much more dog hairs were picked up by the new machine.

About 10 years ago I swore never to buy another Dyson. Just over a week ago I took delivery of this model and can't stop hoovering! I was quite apprehensive having read the negative reviews but all those have only served to help me use this Hoover properly. It feels a sturdy machine despite being a little plasticky ,which doesn't fall over when using the hose unlike my last appliance ( a good German brand) and the extras work well including the attachment for the stairs with 2 strips instead of 1. The ball mechanism is great and it takes very little effort to push around. I have a black Labrador and pale carpets/ floors and this hoover just cleans all those hairs up with ease leaving nothing behind. Yes there are "tram lines" but personally I have no problem with this as the carpet looks well hoovered and they soon disappear. It also hoovers right up against the skirting boards which is good and the suction is amazing. In fact my carpets even look cleaner than they have for a long time. The "bin" is of good capacity and the flex reaches a long way which is great. I really can't find anything negative to write about the Dyson DC41 Animal and would highly recommend it to anyone in need of a Hoover that now outperforms other appliances on the market with ease! Well done Mr Dyson- this is a brilliant vacuum cleaner!

We bought the DC41 just under a year ago now. It was replacement for our old DC07 - which was still going strong. Some reviewers reported that it was noisy but it is a much quieter, more refined machine than the DC07. When our DC07 arrived, it sounded like a Lear Jet taxi-ing in your living room. it lacks the annoying high pitched jet sound of the older Dysons. Other reviewers reported that it was either heavy or difficult to push - I can only suggest that they need to take an extra weetabix. Again, it is a lighter machine than the old DC07 and I find it remarkably easy to push, indeed the ball technology means its more like steering a car than a tank. It has the ability to turn in limited space and run tight against a wall.

One reviewer that I read reported that they got their hair tangled when using it upright. They were obviously an inexperienced Dyson user. The old DC07 used to hiss at you if you ran it while upright, whereas the DC41 merely blows you a raspberry. Also using a Dyson is a different experience to old Hoovers. Using the DC07 was more like taking an over ambitious Alsatian puppy for a walk. It had a voracious appetite - for rug tassels, low hanging curtains etc. But the Dc41 is a much better behaved beast - though it still gets lonely when you use the attachement, and follow you around.

The Dc41's extendable tool is also more refined than the old DC07. When using the DC07 on stairs, you had to hold on the attachment grimly, knowing that if you let go, it would take out any toddlers, cats or grannies that happened to be in the way while it catapaulted back to base.

But ultimately its a superb cleaning machine. We went for Dyson originally because one of our children was asthmatic and its terrific at removing fine dust.
