HIGH AND MIGHTY
Gigantic Mobile Suits the size of massive tower blocks have always been a feature of the Gundam series. Now players get the chance to pit their skills against these mammoth harbingers of destruction in battles that will test their combat abilities to the very limits.
Only by combining the new and improved dash attacks with the multitude of new combos and charge attacks will players be able to emerge victorious against these giants of chaos and devastation.
WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION
As players battle through missions and fight their way through waves of different enemies they'll get the opportunity to collect mobile suit parts that have been strewn across the battlefields. Some can be used to upgrade your own Mobile Suit with more powerful armour or increased abilities.
Other parts can be taken to the Mobile Suit Lab where your collection can be sifted through to find the best parts with which to create your very own mobile suit. This unique suit can then be taken into battle to see if your design is one of combat genius or battlefield suicide.
MAKE FRIENDS AND INFLUENCE BATTLES
Throughout the game in Official Mode and Mission Mode relationships can be made and destroyed with all of the other characters from the world of Gundam. Depending upon your actions within missions you can choose to come to the aid of fellow pilots and then count on them as allies in the future. Or you can choose to anger them instead and find them standing in your way in future missions as they treat you as a sworn enemy.
Relationships can be repaired or ruined throughout your DYNASTY WARRIORS: GUNDAM 2 experience with some missions devoted to developing your relationships with the other characters. The choice of how you treat each individual is totally up to you and leads to totally unique experiences in future missions depending upon how you have treated certain people earlier in the game.
HIGH AND MIGHTY
In addition to the Official Mode, which follows the storyline of Char's Counter Attack, Mission mode gathers together content from the entire Gundam universe to satisfy fans of all the different series. A multitude of missions will enable players to delve further into the magic and legend of the Gundam world.
Based on a variety of authentic locations they will enable players to search for elusive mobile suit parts, improve their pilot licence status which in turns unlocks more elaborate attacks and moves that can build into stunningly powerful chained attacks, develop their relationships with fellow pilots even further, and most importantly improve the stats and abilities of their Mobile Suits in order to develop them into the ultimate war machine.

this is not exactly a review more like a whats new in this series 1) the mobile suits that are usable there were 19 in dynasty warriors gundam 1 there are now 62 suits available including the smaller units such as Zakus which you couldn't pilot in number 1 2) the game modes like the last one it contains the stories of gundam Z gundam and ZZ gundam and chars counterattack but instead of original mode there are missions ranging from part salvage defend and the new friendship mission were you can make or break relationships with other characters from several series such as seed and V gundam 3) the AI for both enemies and allies have been tweaked from anywhere from newbie to hardcore the combat has been tweaked to allow ariel combat and moves such as charges and sprints and finally the addition of large bosses
the proper review
good: the AI can work towards common goals and on modes that base on friendship you can be assisted against large or strong groups of enemies
the friendships are frustratingly difficult now that may sound bad but this really helps you to consider who you fight what missions you will take
the story remains extremely faithful to the series and very rarely deviates
in mission mode the variety and choice available are immense with the addition of new downloadable missions
the gaint boss battles have a certain trick to them (just hitting them won't get you very far) and it's fun to work out each ones attavks and individual abilities
the sheer amount of available mobile suits a total of 62 including the smaller much weaker units if you want a challenge
the sheer numbers of enemies when you are in an enemy field you fill fight hundreds of respawning enemies with ease making you feel like a proper ace pilot
bad:
the ai can be extremely reckless e.g. when you fight four in the psycho gundam you must make sure amuro survives but when the psycho gundam is heavily damaged it will unleash explosions in which he will charge straight into them
the dailogue although incredibly large and diverse becomes very repetative very quickly

I'm going to say the same thing about DW: Gundam 2 as i said about the first one. If you're a Dynasty Warriors fan don't go near it, if you're a Gundam fan you need this game.
It's hard to explain to someone who's not a fan of Gundam what exactly we see in this game, and even when i look at it i think 'why'? But enough of that, about the game.
It really is just the first one, but more. The amount of characters you can play has a probably doubled and the amount of Mobile Suits you can pilot is insane. The fundamentals of the game have changed very little. You can now do a charge attack after six hits instead of just 3 and you can do SP in the air. The SP attacks have changed slightly, in the the first one, as you leveled up the attack you got an extra move in the combo. Now it's just the same move but as it levels up its lasts longer.
The only other major change to the combat is the Mobile Armors you now fight. Big Zam, Psycho Gundam. Or if you're a C.E. guy like me then think Destroy Gundam.
From a strictly anime point of view, i'm a little annoyed that they decided to add yet more Mobile Suits from the U.C. era instead of expanding the likes of Gundam Wing and G-Gundam. The most significant edition for me was the C.E. Gundams and Charcters, you can now fight as Kira, Athrun, Shin, Lunamaria and Lacus, although the last two need unlocking. The amount of content in the game really is huge if you've got the persistance to do it.
The graphics are a vast improvement on the first one, which in all fairness wasn't exactly a hard benchmark to beat.
Koei have pretty much nailed the formula for this. All they can really do now is keep tweaking the combat and add more Gundams, here's hoping for some Gundam00 mechs in the next one.
Oh and for those who care there are various online modes to try out.
One final note, this game can ruin things slightly if you haven't seen all the Gundam series featured. Although the Story Mode never really goes into much detail, you'll still find out enough to spoil the anime. Just a friendly warning.
