5.0 out of 5 stars A good solid game 27 July 2009
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
I have played the DW series since DW2 and I love the series. DW6 empires is not the best but still very good. Compared to DW6 there are many improvements from what I can see. 1st the effects are better but there are still flaws (enemies pop in and out of screen) 2nd new ideas like Empire mode, I thinks thats a great idea its trying to mix romance of the 3 kingdoms game in there. The only real problem with empire games is you start with all the characters which I never liked. You can also make your own character which is cool. So if your a fan of DW then you will be happy with the freshness of this 1.

3.0 out of 5 stars Game review 11 Mar. 2010

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Graphics: The graphics overall are good and smooth but have slight problems such as enemies popping on to the screen and I have noticed your weapons can disappear through the floors, tree's and walls but other than that you can have a lot of enemies on screen at once which is very fun. The graphics on the characters are overall easy on the eyes and nice to look at. The sceneries of the game are dark dull and very boring with little to no change of how the battle fields look. The graphics on the environments are also ugly but you will hardly notice it as you cut your way through hundreds of poorly designed AI soldiers that seem to stand there and let you cut them to ribbons only throwing in the occasional sword slap then standing there like retards again waiting to get screwed by a massive spear. Graphics overall are better obviously as it is on ps3 but nothing special.

Sounds, voices, Music etc:
The music of the game is pretty much the same as it ha always been. Very little variety in the music with nothing new...same old Chinese rock which is not bad if you like and if you don't mind playing battle after battle with the same genre of music (yawn). On the up side if you do like the music the game allows you to select your music before each battle and even on the main screen of empire mode. The voice acting seems to have gotten more cheesier and repetitive as the series has gone on, or it could be just me. I do admit that killing four officers in a row and then hearing them wine and moan about how they will have revenge (with cheesy voice acting) is rather amusing but hearing your character say 'I have defeated another officer' four times is just annoying.

4.0 out of 5 stars Button bashing brainless fun 22 Mar. 2011
Verified Purchase
All Dynasty Warriors games are the same - they are simply brainless button mashing games. You are dragged back to the game with its 'one more go' philosophy, ridiculous voice acting and hundreds of kills very game with minimal effort. It's good to come back to after getting frustrated on a section of a different game you can't pass, so just put DW6 in and mash your way to victory. Think-free gaming at its best. It also has a very easy Platinum trophy to get, should you be interested in Trophies anyway. I don't care about that, it's a nice bonus but I didn't consider that when I bought it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bought for trophies, stayed for the enjoyment 12 Mar. 2013
Verified Purchase
I will be honest, I bought this game because I knew it would be very easy to platinum trophy, which is one of the reasons I play games on console. I have however played the Dynasty Warriors series since Dynasty Warriors 2 and knew how fun the good would be.

The Empires verison of Dynasty Warriors has you fight over control of multiple provinces in China, where the aim is to unite China under your rule. In DW6: Empires, you can make use of strategic cards to influence income, special in game bonus and the replenishment of troops. Because there are so many different characters, along with a trophy for winning a battle with each, you'll find yourself returning to this game often to complete each one. I recommend this game as an alternative to Dynasty Warriors 7: Empires if you don't want to pay full price.

3.0 out of 5 stars Dynasty warriors 6 Empires 28 Jan. 2011

Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
About as much as you can have with a joy-pad. Lots of people to smack about, and lots of different characters to customize and do it with. If you've played any of the series you know what i mean this series isn't very mainstream popular. Its cheap enough to pick up if you like the look of it and haven't played one before, personally i am not keen on the changes to the combo system. Basically u get 3 attack types power attack, normal attack and musou each are affected a little by running jumping etc (not the musou tho) and power attack's combo length is defined by weapon level the higher this is up to 10, Renbu is higher which is basically power attack not sure why they needed to change from the previous combo systems but i don't think its for the better. You don't get a free mode in this game there is only Empire mode, where you wrest control of the 24 territories to win the game. Every officer in the game has a card they can play that costs resources to use its played month by month and works quite well i found it added a nice element of basic strategy to the otherwise running around chopping people up. Bottom line i would go with the previous Dynasty warriors 5 from the ps2 (Not 5 Empires) it wont look as good but the game play is stronger and the combat more fluid and enjoyable.

4.0 out of 5 stars [KK] DW6 Empires Review 30 July 2009
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Each rating is out of 4. I've chosen 4, b/c if it's out of 5, you have '3' as the middle number and that's pointless. With 4, 1 & 2 means is towards bad and 3 & 4 is above average, worth getting.

Trophy difficulty: 2 out of 4
Comment: Slightly time consuming, but majority are easy

Music: 4 out 4
Comment: Includes the music from all the previous games and it gives you the option to play which music in each game. A good add.

Graphics: 2 out of 4
Comment: Pretty much the same as DW6, which is good, but they could have improved it in some areas.

Gameplay: 4 out of 4
Comment: There's more to do in empire mode than before. Both the option to become the emperor/ruler or an officer and various feature such as defect, swear oath with another officer, get married etc.

Additional info: Edit mode is a lot of fun and there's more DLC's coming to expand the costume selection.

Overall: 3 out of 4
