Very Good 28 Jan 2002

Format:Hardcover
This is a very good book because not only is it accurate and clearing up some myths (Michael Stewart isn't really a Stewart) but also gives the author's opinion.
The only downfall is that there isn't enough detail on the exiled Stuarts (The Pretenders).

Popular history at its best, this is a fascinating insight into a quirky and idiosincratic family, most of whom were singularly ill-suited to royalty and would have been better off if they'd never sat on the throne in the first place! Written in a fast (after a slow start) witty style, this is aimed as much at the student of the human psyche as the student of history, yet has enough serious historical analysis to satisfy both.

A superb overview 9 Jun 2001
Format:Hardcover
Britains first monarchical family from the Scottish viewpoint. All of the major characters are in this well-written, well thought out book
