I'm surprised to be the first reviewer for this title as, although a Dynasty fan, I much prefer the later season's to the early 80's episodes which take place before the show really found its (crazy) groove!

This is officially the third season of Dynasty, but to fans its actually the second - Dynasty didn't become Dynasty until Alexis arrived and that only happended at the start of the second series.

Season 3 see's the cast expanded from being mostly family (ie. Carrington) based to included many interlopers including Krystle's leetchy first husband Mark; the butlers daughter Kirby; the return of Sammy-Jo (yay!) and the arrival of evil Adam (boo!).

There are of course endless classic Dynasty 'moments' to be had as the series rolls though such as mad-bad Claudia dropping Fallon's baby off the top of a sky-scraper (only its not a baby, but a doll that Claudia thought was her baby); Cecil's hospital bed death, minutes after marrying Alexis and then stating in his will she can only have her full inheritance if she provides him an heir (ha!); plus Steven dying (but not), Blake's all-consuming search for him after the explosion and Adam re-decorating Jeff's office walls with poisonous paint (in a nasty shade of blue too!).

Its only a shame that in a (shocking) attempt to dig more cash out of the show's loyal fans, that the season is being released in TWO stages hence the volume 1 on the title. The price remains the same, comparable with a full season of Dallas (Dynasty's main competition) but you only get half the episodes and then buy the rest later for the same price - sounds like scheme Alexis would think up, doesn't it?

'Ooh Krystle, you look so elegant... I hardly recognised you!'.

However, for the above line alone - its worth the cash! ENJOY!!

Like other Dynasty fans, not happy that season three has been released in 2 parts which does push the price up.
However this is a great season which sees long lost son Adam(Gordon Thomson)join the cast,Gordon Thomson was actually 37 years old, whereas Adam is meant to be 25,this allegedly led Joan Collins to tell Thomson,he was far too old to be her son!
Adam takes an instant dislike to brother in law Jeff(John James)and in one of Dynasty's most bizarre storylines,he redecortates Jeff's office with lead paint, meant for boats, poor old Jeff starts to behave very oddily and attacks Joseoph(Lee Bergere)
Gordon Thomson is great though as Adam,he has a wicked look that sets your blood cold, the rape scene when Adam rapes newcomer Kirby(Kathleen Beller) is very disturbing viewing,Kirby really becomes the Dynasty victim while Claudia(Pamela Bellwood)is set to a sanitaruim.
Joan Collins'Alexis marries Cecil(Lloyd Bochner)on his deathbed, and gets the fortune essential to get her revenge on Blake(John Forsythe)Miss Collins looks great this season.
The marvellous Fallon(Pamela Sue Martin)gets her kidnapped son back and gets the La Mirage hotel,Krystle's ex Mark(Geoffrey Scott)joins as a tennis pro,we see British actor Simon McCorkindale, briefly,he turned down a regular role in Dynasty,to do a Jaws3 film, which was a flop,he later joined "Falcon Crest".
Steven(now Jack Coleman)is badly burned in an oil rig explosion,we have to wait to see the new look Steven in vol2,also the classic lily pond catfight between Alexis and Kryslte(Linda Evans),can't wait!.........

1.0 out of 5 stars Buy it used! Shame on you Paramount!! 7 April 2008
By KS62 - Published on Amazon.com
I give this one star because we are rating not just the show but, the actual DVD product. The show would probably get four or five stars but, the DVD they are releasing would get a negative 5 if that were possible.

After releasing a full season for each of the first 2 seasons i find it sickening that the corporate company(Paramount) would do this now. I recently read a post where someone had mentioned the idea of buying used. That way they lose sales as they deserve to do for being so blatently greedy. That's what i had decided to do when manufacturers come out with split seasons.

You can find them used, a little while after the are released from a reputable seller on Amazon or ebay. Don't keep the greedy corporate big-wigs living in houses similar to the Carrington estate. You are shelling out extra money in hard times for a show you love while the "powers that be" are probably hiring more servants to wait on them in their mansions. Paramount is notorious for pulling this this stunt. There many other companies who do not do this and only release full seasons. If the other companies see Paramount getting away with this i'm afraid they will follow suit.

1.0 out of 5 stars Does Anyone Know There is a Recession Going On? 10 April 2008
By Daniel J. Seitler - Published on Amazon.com
You know I love Dynasty. I really do. But this is the limit. How on earth in today's economy do today's entertainment companies think they can suddenly get away with splitting TV series seasons and doubling their prices?

Sorry gang you'd better start thinking in the other direction.

How about a two seasons for the price of one sale?

I am no longer collecting TV show DVDs that split seasons in their raw bid to bleed our pockets dry. I can not afford it and there are millions just like me.

Sorry Alexis- I love you- but the truth is I just saw the whole Dynasty cycle on Soapnet and now I can sell my Season's 1 and 2 on eBay. At these prices it is simply not worth it.

Thanks but no thanks.

2.0 out of 5 stars Dynasty = 3 1/2 Stars. Evil Corporate Pigs = 0 Stars. 14 April 2008
By Baron Sardonicus - Published on Amazon.com
What a yummy guilty pleasure this show was. When I was in high school, Wednesday nights was campy Dynasty night. It was the silliest, most glamorous escapsim you could imagine. Yes, utter nonsense most of the time, but really fun nonetheless. Dynasty was a colorful and over the top extravaganza that kept us coming back for more drama and fashion and fights.
I have enjoyed a lot of TV in my life, from Northern Exposure and Upstairs Downstairs to Seinfeld and Green Acres. Dynasty remains a pleasure no matter how ridiculous it seems. The plots were zany, to be honest. But the show is just a hoot, plain and simple.

That being said, I am outraged that Season 3 (and possibly future seasons) is going to be divided up into volumes instead of complete seasons. I can only guess that the studio wants to milk us of our cash. Studios have done this cheesy practice with other shows, such as Lost in Space, Spongebob, and so forth. What pigs these companies can be sometimes.
Like other reviewers here, I am furious and disgusted at the ugly amount of greed and at the severe lack of respect for the customer. I will not be buying this until the price is cut significantly for half a season. I love the program but not this much. I urge others to voice their displeasure and demand a reasonable price point, as well as complete season sets without these stupid "volume" editions. We definitely deserve better treatment than this.
