Bought this about one week before xmas. Sent free postage and arrived in about 14hrs from the point of purchase. Top marks to the seller for a superb service.

I bought this item as I do a lot of messing about with drives and I am a system builder/repairer. I didnt want to be faffing about with an external enclosure as you have to open it up, disconnect the drive, put the other one in and put the enclosure back together. Not only that but most enclosures are for sata or ide, not both!

Superb. It does the job nicely and I hooked up a brand new 1.5tb sata and copied over all my data from 4 other drives within my pc.

I really don`t know how the other reviewer felt he needed instructions? You know when you are young and you get one of these wooden boxes and all these different shapes and you have to put the square through the square hole and the triangle through the triangular hole etc etc. Well if you can do that then you with know exactly how to fit all this together. It`s so obvious that I didnt even think of instructions till I came here and read the other review.

Does a scart adaptor come with instructions?

The price is also excellent with the only other alternative being almost 20 quid plus post!

An excellent device and an excellent serice from the seller.

Does what it says on the tin, very useful for keeping around old IDE drives or fixing other drives from other machines. Worked straight off in Ubuntu Linux and mounted under /media/.

Save your sanity by remembering to switch the cable select jumpers on IDE drives into MASTER position though otherwise it doesn't work!

An excellent cost effective solution for connecting an internal DVD
or hard drive to your netbook via a USB port.
A doddle to connect up and worked straight out of the box.
My only concern is the long term reliability of the included
mains power supply adaptor for the external drives as it is
housed in a plastic case which can become very warm.
Otherwise it worked a treat and allows the user to access data
from old surplus drives removed from a PC.

I hesitated before buying this having read some of the negative reviews, but my unit arrived quickly, had all the required parts and most importantly worked perfectly to allow me to retrieve data from 2 SATA drives I had lying around the place that I really didn't want to have to open up the PC and disconnect various other drives to have to access. The power supply on my unit was absolutely fine - plug fitted well, no overheating or trouble at all.
My advice is - if you think you need it then go for it: it's good value and does the job.

I brought this product to use at work where we have lots of old machines that use IDE hard drives. Hated having to keep messing about opening up my desktop PC to fit them and get data off them when PCs died.

I used this product on multiple drives including 2.5/3.5 inch IDE drives and 2.5/3.5 inch SATA drives and it's been incredibly useful. It's easy to use and doesn't require a manual although you do get a sheet of A5 with basic instructions on.

The power supply hasn't exploded, all the drives used are still working fine and there is no voltage switch because there doesn't need to be one.

Box contains:

USB adapter, UK power lead, UK power adapter, SATA cable, instructions sheet and a 4pin molex to 15pin SATA converter.

Over the years I had built up a collection of old internal drives from the PC's I had upgraded from; just in case I might need some file or other from them in the future. This little device has allowed me to connect each of these old disks by USB (it has the power supply for the drive too) and copy the contents onto my new PC, then reformat the old disk to get rid of the data, before finally scrapping it at the local recycling point. It did just what I wanted and was pretty cheap... well worth getting one if you are in my situation.

Delivery estimate: 18th July. Dispatch email: 15th July Arrival: 16th July.

Fantastically fast service. I've tried it out and it works brilliantly.

Since one or two reviews claim the power supply went kabloom I have taken that into account and I'm not exactly leaving it switched on in the mains all the time. I'm just using it when I need to.

SO good to access my files without my new computer being here.

Package included an adaptor for laptop hard drives with the small thin power plug, and also an adaptor for large hard drives with the 4 pin power plug.

The hard drive can be connected using either the SATA or the IDE cable supplied.

Worked first time I plugged in an old laptop hard drive and another large hard drive.

Much cheaper than the alternatives. Very pleased!
