Product Description

Product Description

During the past decades, "Dynamics of the singing voice" has successfully been established as a reference text for teachers of singing, singers, choral conductors and organists, speech and voice therapists, laryngologists and other health professionals, psychologists and those in linguistics. It discusses the physiological, psychological, musical and emotional aspects of the voice, particularly as they relate to singing but also to speaking. The book provides a greater understanding of how the voice works and the many factors involved in singing as well as an objective discussion of singing without reference to specific techniques. In this fifth edition, the author has now updated and rearranged the content. Furthermore she has added a new chapter on vocal pedagogic aspects in order to meet the requirements of the art of singing of the 21st century. Thus this new book provides the reader with the established concepts in combination with the latest knowledge about modern approaches to the singing voice.

Format:Paperback
after having read many scientifically oriented books on voice production, Mrs. Dayme's holistic and yet anatomically correct presentation successfully combines the singer's intuitive feel for the voice with all the hard facts that debunk the many myths of singing.
I found it thoroughly captivating as a singer and teacher, and have already started integrating many of her elements into my daily routine.
Belongs on every singer's piano.

Great condition; dry read. 25 Sep 2010
By Camille M. Hightower - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Well, I actually had to buy this book for a college course of mine, so the most I can say about it is that: 1) It's informative, 2) It's also EXTREMELY boring, 3) It was in a pretty decent condition from the seller. All in all, as a vocalist this book is a very good reference to your instrument and helps answer any questions you might have.

Excellent Text - Very Technical 17 Feb 2010
By StudentForLife - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This was a required textbook for my Vocal Pedagogy class. I have found it extremely helpful. It is very technical read, though, so don't expect to learn this information by skimming the pages or reading through it one time. Overall, it was a good investment, and a decent resource to refer back to throughout my musical career. It does carry a very high price tag for a textbook of its size.

Book is in good condition. Thought it was going to be a later edition, but it works just the same. Thanks!
