So, for the last twenty odd years I have had a rudimentary Dymo daisywheel embossing tool. Lovely thing it was, green with a black wheel on the top you spun round to the letter you wanted before squeezing the handle. Very rudimentary, very functional, and almost became a souvenir of my youth. As they say though if it ain't broke don't fix it.
It broke though, and couldn't be fixed. So, replacing it I went for this. The technology has obviously come on leaps and bounds, no longer does the embossing tape hang off the side but now it's secreted away in the handle. The trigger is smoother, and no longer do you just do a half-squeeze for a space for it has its own place on the wheel!
This is a much better action than the old one and for that I was impressed. However, the kerning (space between letters) has gone crazy. Type three 'M's and the gap is around 2mm, three 'I's and its out there on its own with 5mm between them! The letters are bigger than they once were too, around half as big again, so I think with this increase in size has come this apparent increase in kerning. No good for roman numerals.
If you can live with it then by all means go for it, but it's a little expensive for a label-maker that produces a label that looks worse that the ones created by the Dymo Daisywheel of 20odd years ago. I wish I had gone for the kiddies one, but now without seeing what it does first I'm not so sure.

I am very impressed by this Dymo Omega Embosser. I have used it to label my plugs for my aquariums so I know which plug is for what (ie: Heater, light, air pump, etc).
I can not find any fault with this item, except for what is with all Embossers, which is, the spacing of the letters could do with being slightly closer. This is the same for all Embossers, so over all I am 99.9% happy with this product.

Works well, but no apostrophe.
Makes easily readable labels (as long as you press hard enough), easy to 'reload', easy to peel. The black tape looks fairly professional, if the messiness is putting you off. Read more

Broken embosser
Hopeless. This was our second attempt with one of these. Both had broken mechanisms within 24 hours and minimal use.

Very Handy

What year is this?
These little plastic labels are so useful and when I could not find the cheap own brand one I bought from W H Smiths 15 years ago I ordered this Dymo. What a disappointment! Read more

garden labels and more!
We are very pleased with this dymo embosser printer, we are re`labelling all our garden plants as these labels are not affected by the weather and remain readable.

Is simples
An upgrade to the long established dymo plastic tape machine. Simple to use and provides good, basic labels (I use it mainly for labelling wiring and connectors).
