I was given a Labelwriter 450 as part of my birthday present, and in my opinion it is truly an excellent addition to any home office. I don't have my own business or anything like that but for years I have been printing address labels for e bay etc using sheets of labels and MS Word !
This device is a dream come true.
So easy to use.
Simply follow the 'quick start' guide in the supplied manual and within five minutes you will be printing your first label !
The machine couldn't be more simple to load with the labels and the software is nice and easy to install and use.
Simply select a label size, type in the required text and press 'print'.
A second later the label is waiting for you to use.

You can print off 1 label or set the device to print multiple labels.
The best thing about it though is the 'Always fit' option.
When selected, there is no need to worry whether the text will fit within the borders of the labels.
It is 'auto fitted' for you.
As you type the font is adjusted so that it will always fit within the label boundaries.

There are loads of different font styles and you also have the `Bold' and `Underline' options.

This little device is ideal whether it's for multiple e bay address labels or just for a single address label for a Birthday card.

You certainly don't have to be a computer wiz to use it either.
It is so simple to use.
Software installation is a breeze, and the software user interface is clear and self explanatory.

I would give this device a ten out of ten score and highly recommend it to anyone.

The Dymo Label Writer 450 continues Dymo's tradition of high quality desktop label printers. I have been using them since the Dymo 300, and they have never disappointed. The printers themselves are easy to maintain, and replacing label reams is simplicity itself.

What makes the Dymo stand out though, is the excellent supporting software (which now works properly on Windows 7 too!). It is ludicrously easy to design a label template, and then simply paste an address into it. The software will autoscale the text to fit your design. So short addresses appear big but long addresses appear smaller.

Not only that, but its also possible to bulk print a whole load of labels. You simply select your label, then specify to bulk print from a CSV file or clipboard. The software will read the file, and here's the best bit, automatically remove any blank lines.

So, instead of the following address:
-----------------
Jo Blogss
121 Madeup Road

London
SW21 2ED
-----------------

You get:

-----------------
Jo Bloggs
121 Madeup Road
London
SW21 2ED
-----------------

Once you get this function working properly you will be a very happy bunny indeed. It saves an awful lot of work. Bear in mind also, that just about any application that stores addresses will allow you to output a CSV file.

Be wary about buying non-branded replacement labels though. A lot of them won't work properly. Dymo go to great lengths to make their labels as difficult to clone as possible. There are some good ones out there, but don't buy a huge quantity before first checking that they work.

Arrived quickly, easy set-up (the software provided on the CD is 8.3, but a newer version is available online for Mac and PC.

I bought this to replace a LabelWriter 320 which Windows 8.1 does not recognise (thank you Microsoft!). I had a stock of labels already and discovered that the printer does not recognise them.

Dymo LabelWriter labels have markings on the reverse side of the paper backing, and these have changed. The older stock has one black square per label, whereas the new ones have a series of thick black lines, the label product number and the Dymo logo. Having spoken to Dymo Customer Support (they were extremely helpful) they advised that whilst the older printer will recognise the new label stock, the newer one will not recognise the older stock. Obviously this has happened previously as they are kindly sending me some free labels to replace the old ones.

So, if you have some of the older labels with just the black square on the back, they won't work with the new printer.

In the box you get a power supply, UK to figure of 8 cable, Euro to figure of 8 cable, the printer, a short USB cable, the CD and a couple of quick start manuals. The main manual is installed with the the label software.

The 450 has a couple of improvements over the 320, but basically remains the same in operation as previous models.

Buy now so you minimise the time you'll be without this machine. Read this review after.

I was recommended this gadget by a good friend (Tom Weller). He explained when I was considering purchasing that it's a device that I wouldn't know I needed until I had it. At the time I didn't understand what he meant - 10 minutes after opening the box it made perfect sense.

Never again will you have to go through the boring monotonous task of stabbing a biro at a blotch of paper to get the ink flowing followed by writing an address label on a package or envelope (it makes me feel dirty just typing it). To say this is the best thing since sliced bread, frankly is overstating how good sliced bread is.... this is the best thing since time began.

The widget (open with a customisable shortcut key combo) quickly followed by the paste command will have a pristine label printed within seconds. Customise your template(s) with your own branding, print label after label from spreadsheet entries the list goes on and on.

It's setup as a shared network printer in our house and although only used lightly I can honestly say I wouldn't contemplate running an office with out.

If you wanted to print your own postage stamps then the bigger brother dual writer may be a better option but if you buy this you certainly won't be disappointed.

ENJOY!!!
