Product Description

Colour: Intense Violet

Product Description

Change or renew the colour of your clothes and soft furnishings with this easy to use machine fabric dye, that won't wash out. For use in automatic front loading machines only. Suitable fabrics: cotton, linen, viscose and polyester/cotton mixes. Lighter shades on polyester mixes because pure synthetics do not pick up the dye. Not suitable for wool, silk, polyester, acrylic, nylon and other synthetic fibres or fabric with special finishes e.g. 'dry clean' only. One pack will dye up to 600g /1lb dry weight fabric. Dyeing larger amounts (up to 1200g) will give a lighter colour. Final colour depends on the original fabric colour e.g. sunflower dye on red fabric will give orange.

Box Contains

1 x 200g machine fabric dye

I have a zip up Reebok hoodie in a beautiful rich blue, or at least I do now!! Due to years of washing it had begun to look tired, old and faded, but after using the dye it looks brand new again.

I have used these dyes for years so know they work, but I have mainly used black ones to re-dye my trousers which get bleach splatters on them from work. It says on the box that they don't cover bleach stains - well I've never had any difficulty doing so, but the trousers I dye are 100% cotton so that probably is the reason why. The dyes only work on cotton based material so don't work on completely manmade fibres like nylon and polyester and if you have a mix of cotton and Polyester the shade isn't as vibrant, which is also factor to consider when dying something as the stitching on some clothing can be done with polyester thread and you can end up with an interesting stitched effect where the stitching is a different shade where the dye has not touched it. They don't affect other washes as long as you follow the instructions on how to clear your machine afterwards, and I always go round the seal of the washing machine with a piece of kitchen towel to remove residue. You don't have to use the special dye salt either any common cooking/table salt works just as well.

I would recommend these dyes to anyone as, for the cost you pay can refresh your wardrobe for a fraction of the cost it would be to replace the clothes.

I bought a couple of white t-shirts but as I'm the type of person who gets a stain on a white top within seconds of putting it on, I reckoned on dying them a nice colour. As a local chemist had only half a dozen colours in the Dylon range, I decided to order this colour via Amazon. I was going to dye one t-shirt but when the colour arrived, the colour of the powder seemed darker than the photo on the box, so I dyed both tops to make any colour less intense. I followed the instructions to the letter (you've got to wear gloves unless you want lovely green fingers)and both tops have come out great, no gaps in the colour or streaks. Very impressed and would recommend.

I used Intense Violet for my white trench coat and yes, it is an "intense" colour. I am really happy with the result, the colour is great. The product is very easy to use and has a simple instruction. The only thing is that the whole process takes some time. You need 3 washing machine cycles: first you have to wash the clothing you want to dye; second is the dyeing and the third cycle is to clean the machine.

Having studied the internet and numerous reviews on both this product, and sofa cover fails and successes, i decided to write a review giving the answers i couldn't find.

First things first, my washing machine is an 8kg machine- this is important because the fabric needs space to move. I don't know how this would work in a smaller machine.

Second- dry fabric weight is everything! This is really really important, don't just stuff everything in and hope for the best, or worse, guestimate the fabric weight.

Third- mine is a very old, and very big, 4-5 seater sofa. It's one of the deep seat style ones and i got it, and a matching 3 seater for a £50 bargain in the Sally Ann 5 years ago. The couches themselves were in great nick, nice shape and good construction, the only down-side was that they came with no back cushions and they were a disgusting shade of faded and patchy, dark forrest green. I HATE green furniture. Aside from the size, the fact that the covers were removable, had me sold.

Having boil washed them- i had a wee one and who knew whose bum had been on these seats- i figured i could bleach and re-dye them. One wrecked murky green/brown scatter cushion later, i discovered this was not to be and invested in trusty white throw-overs, perfectly nipped and tucked to cover the entire awkwardly shaped couch.

That was all fine till the other day when I discovered this stuff. Cue endless research on re-dyeing sofa covers, a load of horror stories and some successes.

Four- patience!

Happy with the product and the quick service from the seller. Easy to follow instructions, sofa covers look much better now. One tip not to forget - only half fill your washing machine with fabric to be dyed for non-patchy results.

Got this dye to re-colour my daughters khaki parka, although a bit darker than khaki it has brought the coat up brilliantly, looks brand new. Will purchase this product again.
