Product Description

Paul Ferris, Foreword, 02.00

"The quality of the material that the author has uncovered will make Thomas's biographers, and certainly makes me, aware of things they wish they hadn't missed ... a work of authority; not to mention charm"

Product Description

This Dylan Thomas biography reveals startling new information on Thomas's stay in Cardiganshire. With updated research and interviews, this work takes a fresh look at the Majoda shooting, the setting of "Under Milk Wood, and the claims that Thomas spied for the British in Iran. Previously unpublished photographs provide an inside look at the surroundings and circle of friends that influenced some of Thomas's most important works.

Format:Paperback
Intriguing book this. The strapline - a farm etc. - correctly suggests that the story is tied down to a specific locality. An intense series of happenings, involving Dylan Thomas and his neighbours and associates, takes place near Newquay in West Wales. The introduction allows you to get a context for the events (in Dylan Thomas's life as a whole), and the copious illustrations throughout add much to the narrative. David N Thomas has written several books on Dylan Thomas, so this is a labour of fixation. A thoroughly engrossing read that had me searching for my old copy of 'Under Milk Wood'. But not until I'd finished with the farm, two mansions and a bungalow.
