Review

You can always count on three things with a Linda Howard book: suspense that'll kepp you on the edge of your seat' an alpha male hero to die for' and super-steamy sex - Bella

Product Description

Sarah Stevens is a woman with many distinct qualities. Skilled at running large households smoothly and efficiently, she is also a trained bodyguard and expert marksman - indispensable to her current employer, an elderly judge who has hired her as both a companion and a protector. Then one night she thwarts a burglary in progress, a courageous act that rewards Sarah her requisite 'fifteen minutes of fame' with the local press. But the exposure is enough to catch the attention of a tortured soul who, unbeknownst to Sarah, will stop at nothing to have her for himself. Sarah's perfectly ordered life is shattered when tragedy strikes: her beloved employer is brutally murdered. The detective investigating the case, assures Sarah that she is not a suspect. Until lightning strikes twice. There's a second killing - and this time, despite a lack of evidence connecting her to the crime, Sarah cannot escape the shadow of guilt. The only option left for Sarah is to carry on with her life. But she doesn't realise that a deranged stalker is luring her into an elaborate trap . . . one in which she, once ensnared, might never escape...

Linda Howard has done it again.. yet another superb on the edge of your seat read.. I found myself holding my breath many times through out the book...Sarah is a Butler cum bodyguard and works for a retired Judge.. they become close she foils a break in but during her minutes of fame.. and tv new coverage a person develops a fixation on her.. firstly he offers her a job which she refuses.. he then starts to stalker her and remove obsticles in his way of getting her.. she in turn falls in love with the police officer who comes to the scene of the break-in..not giving to much away.. but as the books develops so the situation becomes more tense...
Very enjoyable read... worth every penny...

disappointing 13 May 2004
Format:Paperback
I was really looking for to another fantastic read from Linda Howard. I was sorely disappointed, this book was not up to her usual high standards, the characters were one-dimesional and hastily formed, the plot tired and uninspiring. I sincerely hope that Howard will return to the high level as shown by books such as 'All the Queen's Men' and 'Open Season'.

Utter Drivel
Apparently Ms. Howard has a very good reputation as a writer. 'Dying to Please' being the first (and most likely last) book of hers I picked up to read, I'd have never guessed that... Read more

Dying to please
Excellent read. Very sexy in parts but not crude. Linda Howard writes a good story every time and always manages a different scenario.

Needs to Focus More
This is only my second book by this author and in a lot of ways I enjoyed it. She actually writes a good mystery and the thriller plot is good. Read more

Good for a light read...
Not of the same style or humour as some of Linda Howard's other books, certainly, but still a good bit of light entertainment to see you through a dark winter's night! Read more

Not one I would be dying to read again
This book just is not as good as other LH books. It lacks the humour of Mr Perfect and the suspense of Dream Man. Read more
