Book Description

10 July 2014
Evan Shea was born into a family of athletes and high achievers that loved competition and never missed an opportunity to gloat over any achievement, however small if it provided a glimmer of advantage over his siblings, cousins and especially, his father. Evan enjoyed a rewarding, but not exceptional career in high school and college sports, constantly being overshadowed by his cousin, Neil. But, Evan became a member of a world class sporting organization known as Cypress Gardens and exceeded any accolades previously enjoyed by his competitive relatives. After several years on the world water skiing stage, Evan returned to his college to finish his degree and met the love of his life, Jeanette. They married, had three children and Evan became a stellar businessman. One day he stopped at his doctor’s office to pick up his routine physical exam results and discovered he had 2 months to live. The shock and how his family deals with the news and prepares for the inevitable loss of Evan is only a part of the story. The other part is the help Evan is receiving from the spirits of his relatives that had already died as they came back to help him transition from the mortal side of his life to the other side. Dying Dreams chronicles Evan’s life as if blossoms, blooms and ends following an illness that cannot be cured. The story is one of happiness, grief, survival and devotion as Evan’s family comes forward to pick up and carry on his legacy and his memory. Will Evan discover the secret known only to certain spirits in the after life? Will he be able to return to the mortal world to help the family he loves when they face a crisis? How will his family survive and prosper without the head of the Shea family? Dying Dreams is a work of fiction based on actual events in the life, and death of a real person.

About the Author

Jon Broderick reinvented himself many times. To name just a few, his athletic career began in high school that earned him a full college scholarship in three sports. In the summer, Jon learned, enjoyed and excelled in water skiing so well that he was hired by Dick Pope, the owner of World Famous Florida's Cypress Gardens where he performed in the daily shows and appeared in many national television shows, commercials and films. After graduating from Miami University in Ohio, Jon taught school, but for economic reasons, left education for the business world. He dabbled in insurance, both as an adjuster and in sales, gravitating to real estate where he assembled partnerships and participated in the political process as a member of the local planning and zoning commission. Jon and his partners formed The Aquarama Shows, consisting of his boatless water ski shows using his rotating ski machine that pulled skiers in a circular pond without the use of a boat. These shows joined with The Waltzing Waters and a Sea Lion and Dolphin Show in Florida, with summer shows in Texas and Tennessee. Jon earned a masters degree in creative writing at the age of 74 in order to improve his writing skills. He and his wife, Maria now spend six months in Recife, Brazil where they enjoy endless beaches and the famous Brazilian Carnival, and where Jon can write in tropical leisure. The other six months Jon lives in Marietta, Georgia near his children. Mountain Springs House Publishing Company signed Jon on a 3-year contract. His first novel, FIVE MILES DEEP was published in November 2012. His second book, DYING DREAMS is due out in October 2013. Two other books will be released in early 2014, one is the biography of Gil Devos, a man who spent 40 years buying rough diamonds from the even rougher miners, and the second in the series of Marina Victoria books will feature the heroine taking on the problem of the many shark attacks on Brazil's east coast where Jon spends his winter months near Recife. In his spare time, Jon still enjoys getting out on the water, following a boat on a slalom ski, playing an occasional round of sub standard golf or rolling around on a judo mat with his old teammate just for the exercise. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing book 1 Jan 2014

I had the honor of being one of Jon's classmates at Full Sail University and became his friend. I fell in love with his work i school and my love affair with Jon and his work continues. I couldn't wait to read this book in part b/c it was written by Jon but the story line hit home with me as my husband was recently told he had a rare cancer and that without surgery he had only a year to live.

I could not put Jon's book down, it kept me in it's gripes from page one until the end. Jon is a gifted storyteller and it shows in this novel. I look forward to his long success as a writer and look forward to reading every last thing he writes.

I'm proud to say I knew Jon when and even proud of the author he has become. This book is a must read and I encourage all to read it.

Another very satisfying book! This book had a very intriguing look at Family and how we maintain connection with Family members who have passed from this life. It gave me a good feeling and was comforting knowing what might be. Mr. Broderick has had many experiences to pull from in his writing. Looking forward to the next one.
