The Series Perks Up -- 7th Sophie Rivers Mystery 14 May 2012
By Sires - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
Sophie's cricket playing love interest is touring Australia. Sophie meanwhile is still on unpaid sabbatical from her teaching job at a run down Birmingham college. Asked by her tutor to teach some remedial English as second language classes to some students from the far east, she is puzzled by their lack of progress and begins to wonder if maybe there isn't some shenanigans going on at this institution as well.

She asks for some assistance from Carla Pentowski, an excellent lecturer, and then things start to go very wrong with incidents of vandalism and the discovery of bodies in the Cut (canal).

I would give this book 3 1/2 stars. It's worlds better than the previous book Dying to Score. At times the foreshadowing is a bit heavy but it makes a decent weekend read. The following mystery in the series is Dying by the Book.
