Ellen finds out all too quickly the real reason Hank was murdered and almost loses her own life.

Kathleen Delaney nails the concept of a fun, easy read! What a great book to take on a plane, read in the tub, or just enjoy from the back porch on a lazy afternoon. I loved Dying for a Change. The book quickly drew me in and I couldn't put it down until the mystery had been solved. The characters were quirky, likeable, and refreshingly real people. This is a must read for anyone who has lived through the transformation of small town America ... or for anyone that just wants to escape away for a couple hours of sheer entertainment! Great first book for the author. I loved the subtle humor and definitely look forward to more.

Delaney's sense of humor comes through in this exciting first novel. The book is peppered with immensely likeable characters; one would like to sit down in Ellen's comfortable living room for coffee and pizza. Her childhood friend, Dan Duinham, is an immensely attractive Chief of Police and budding romantic interest for Ellen/ Ellen's lively and lovely college-aged daughter, Sussannah, is spirited company, too. The read er feels that he or she really could drop in and have instant friends. But there are a couple of bad eggs in the bunch, too. A number of suspects prevaricate and rumble, rant and complain,while the reader tries to figure out, along with Ellen, who the killer might be. And as Ellen draws closer to discovering what the murderer is desperate to conceal, Ellen becomes a target herself. Delaney describes a showdown that will make your pulse race-and bring amusing r elief. Dying For A Change is a fun, Exciting read and I look forward to Delaney's next novel.

I found the book boring, so about a quarter of the way through the book, I was tempted to stop reading. I thought, however, that the author was a newbie when it came to writing so I decided to give her another chance. The pace did pick up a little about half way through the book when another murder took place. However, I found the characters tiresome, with little to distinguish one from the other. Also, the author or agent should have proofread the book one last time for mistakes.
