Synopsis

The authors break through the dangerous silence, complicated emotions, and brutal stigma to offer this healing guide for family members who have lost a loved one to suicide. Cobain's personal account of dealing with suicide, along with recollections from other suicide survivors provides insight into the confusion, fear, and guilt family members experience.

I lost my husband to suicide seven years ago and thought I had moved on very well. This book has helped me to make sense of a lot of things which still puzzled me, and at the same time it described many experiences I recognised. Instead of being long and boring, it was made up of easy-to-digest chunks. I would recommend it to anyone going through the experience of having lost a loved-one to suicide. I just wish I had come to it earlier.

I was surprised at the thinness of this book, but it was packed with good stuff. Because it is compact, it is an afternoon read. Its cover and compactness means I think it would be particularly suitable for teenagers affected by suicide. It is jointly written by Kurt Cobain's cousin and emphasises specific issues related to youth suicide. However, issues discussed are equally applicable to adult suicide.

for all those affected by the death of family or friends through suicide, this book is invaluable - as soon as I read the first sentence, I knew it would help me.
