Having looked around I wanted something that would keep me warm during winter months. Then I had to weigh in whether I should go for something less thick that could be used most of the year or go for thick, but get a second duvet for those warmer months. Well then I found these! In the product description it's stated that you can join two duvets together, although in practice there are just little holes though which you can tie them together (nothing fancier than that). So I got these two of these 6 tog versions, tied them together and it has been plenty warm at +19 degrees even with a slight draft. Take one out and it's great when there are two under the covers. Better yet, I can use these until the very hottest of summer months!
All in all, the down smell is not strong at all, at least when compared to my previous covers and pillows. Obviously there will be some lingering smell especially after getting slightly humid from sleeping in it, so avoid if you can't stand the smell. But no worse than competitors, if not better. To respond to one of the reviewer's issues about the duvet being thin and "limp".. Well it is thin, it's a 6 tog cover! And duvet is one of the best natural insulators, so it's bound to be thinner than synthetic of a similar tog, especially when compressed. As to limp - well, if it's thin it's also limp. The filling were even however.
Quality wise I have nothing to complain about so I'm giving it five stars for good value (I bought it on offer).
