'His medical thrillers out-chill both Michael Crichton and Robin Cook.' --The Daily Telegraph

Product Description

The Eighth Dr Steven Dunbar Thriller. John Motram, a cell biologist at Newcastle University, firmly believes that Black Death was not caused by bubonic plague but by an unknown virus. He is excited when Oxford University informs him that there might be preserved bodies of Black Death victims hidden under Dryburgh Abbey. Motram launches an excavation but it comes to a disastrous end when he apparently loses his mind after entering the secret tomb. Dr Steven Dunbar is sent to investigate - fearing that a new killer virus has been let loose.

Amazing 2 May 2012

Another piece of brilliance here.

McClure grabs the reader, draws them in using fears of old and keeps them in the palm of his hand through an imagination that is detailed, convincing and literary gold.

Well done sir!

Exotic Britain 31 Mar 2012

Readers first meet the hero of this novel in Chapter 13. And the really big mystery is never actually resolved. A high body count of completely innocent people while the high-and-mighty guilty get off scott-free. Apart from one evil stooge. Very well written story that keeps readers interested. And very middle class. For some bat-crazy reason part of this novel takes place in Camp Bastion making it read like it was a suburb of Plymouth. Generally the locations make Britain seem like a really fascinating place to visit and for me that was by far the most skillfull part of the writing.

Totally brilliant 28 Feb 2012

What is there left to say about the author's Steven Dunbar series? As with all Ken McClure's books, it is a totally un-put-downable read. Superbly detailed, cleverly crafted and utterly gripping from the first page to the last. I could go on and on...but I won't. Just get out there and buy it. If you've read any other McClure books, you'll know you're in for a treat. If you're new to the author, you'll be so delighted you read this review and bought the book.
