Product Description

The Duronic surge tower extension lead will help you cut the clutter under your desk. Our customers range from home users and corporate companies, everyone looking for the same simple solution of tidying the computer setup.

Our range of towers have all had engineering done here in the UK to make sure they all meet the strict guidelines we have in the UK to make sure they are safe to use and they actually do the job. <br />

This model is engineered to tell you when it's surge protected and when it's not. Not all surge products have 2 neon lights. One for power indicator and one specifically for surge. The surge neon is assurance to the user that it is protecting your appliances and has not failed. In simple English, it means the surge function is working. A product without this function will never be able to tell the user the surge function is working or not. <br />

Provides you a lot of sockets from a single wall socket: <br />

ST8B and ST8W: 8 Sockets

ST10B and ST10W: 10 Sockets

ST12B : 12 Sockets <br />

You can have a maximum 10 sockets with up to a load of 3000W combined from all 10 plugs. Comes in Black or White, B in model number is for black an W for white model. <br />

All the plugs sockets are designed to be diagonal to cater for standard and larger plugs. <br />

A sturdy low profile strong base to hold all the plugs once plugged in. <br />

2m distance between the tower and the cable plug. <br />

I bought this to protect my PC and everything else that was connected. I wasn't too sure of the tower design at first but now I love it. I've recommended it to my friends and family and have personally bought 4 of these.

Not only does it protect your electricals, the 10-way Tower tidies up the wiring mess that a typical 4-way creates.

I totally recommend this to anyone reading this review and assure you that you wont be disappointed with the product or the price.

Good Extension Lead, Inexpensive, Effective and More Organised than Conventional Ground Based Devices!

OK so this plug extension unit comes packaged in a cardboard box and contains a very small instruction leaflet, which amongst other things usefully reminds us not to immerse it in water (I noticed this as nowhere on the amazon website description does it clearly state that this cannot be used in water - phew saved me some bath time shenanigans).

I am not an electrician and not even an electrical expert so take anything written here with that in mind.

At the bottom of the instruction leaflet it states that total wattage for all sockets must not exceed 3000W… I have little idea what that means exactly - apart from don’t plug loads of power hungry stuff into it or you may burn your house down or break things. Having read other reviews I think it’s a little unfair to complain when this device, designed to run of a single wall socket, fails to power your whole house, electric heater and kettle etc… I plan to use it for my lounge electrical entertainment (TV, DVD player, Satellite TV unit, wifi router etc…). I probably wont use anywhere near all 10 sockets.

The product itself feels rather light and is a little thicker than expected (see my photos), although in retrospect if it has to fit plugs in either side (with their 2cm prongs) therefore it should be no surprise that its 5cm thick.

It looks fine and the lights (power and surge protector) are at the bottom, important if you want to hide it behind a unit as lights at the top might be more easily seen. I also opted for the white one – as unless it’s a display piece in a modern room, or it’s for your friend the Goth who has black walls, white blends into the background a little better.

All in all it works and seems good quality, furthermore its relatively in expensive – I’ll keep you posted as our relationship develops.

Sits vertically on the floor and takes up very little space. Don't know how good the surge protection is as it's not had to be used. The only drawback is that if it did "trip" the whole thing would have to be replaced as you can't reset it (according to the instructions.)

I've got eight plugs connected (starting from the bottom) and it hasn't toppled over yet. No on-off switch but what does that matter when it's only inches away from the main socket?

Bought this after my husband went on a safety course and was told that these were safer than double adapters. Very neat and tidy, much better than a plug bar.

This is a better buy than flat 10 way sockets, because they tend to be two rows of 5, which means when you use larger plugs there's no room opposite. With a tower, all ten sockets can be used without obstructing each other. Just make sure to even out the plugs so it does't topple off it's lightweight base! There are two lights at the bottom which show you that a) it is working and b) the surge protection is on. It's a bit pricey for what it is, but arrived on time, no problems, so overall, a good buy.

I recently purchased this surge protector, and it arrived this morning. I bought it because it was upright, held ten plugs, and there are glowing reviews about it. I haven't taken it out of it's plastic pack yet, because I have a slight doubt about it now. I'm just wondering if anyone who has given this product such a standout review has actually read what is written on the back of the cardboard that the surge protector comes in? It says, and I quote:
"PLEASE NOTE
In the unlikely event that the green light
goes out it means that the special internal
Thermal Fusing has performed its task and
the surge protection is no longer operational.
The unit must therefore be replaced."

In other words, if you're unlucky enough to have an electrical surge and the protector does its job, you then have a doorstop and not a surge protector. I know this is not an expensive product, but there is nothing in the product description that tells you it's a one time only surge protector. I think I might send it back and look for a surge protector that would work more than once, like a Belkin which guarantees its products for life. Might be a bit more expensive, but it would wind up costing the same if you did have a surge and had to keep replacing the protector.

"I'm very happy that I chose Duronic's 10 way surge tower extension lead socket. (I have now ordered 2 more). I wish that I had bought one of these a long time ago. Now instead of leads trailing from my computer and printer they are neat and tidy and much easier to get to. The cable tidy underneath it is brilliant as well. Thank you also to the other reviewers whose comments made me decide to buy this excellent extension lead." 22 April 2009"
