5.0 out of 5 stars Good Bit Of Kit! 8 Jan 2012
By Jason
Thank you Duracell, and Amazon... and whoever I may have bought the portable charging unit from...

Simply, I am very impressed with it.

You plug it in the wall.

It charges.

It stops charging when its full.

You plug your device with a USB charge cable into it.

... And it charges!

It doesn't charge as quick as if your device were plugged into a wall socket charger. But to be honest, I wouldn't expect that anyway... There may be larger capacity alternatives out there that boast 3-4 full charges and charge as fast as, if not faster than, a wall socket charge, but that makes me wonder what its doing to my devices battery health... You do get at least 1 full charge with this one and some left over with an iPhone 4S and an HTC Desire.

In any case I stuck with a name brand and i'm very satisfied. Would recommend to everyone. Thanks again.

Oh, and in case you're wondering what's included, it comes with the unit, with a little flippy out arm bit for some devices to connect straight to it, a cable that goes into the unit and the other end into a USB so that it may be charged, and a USB port for you to use your own charge cable to charge from.

Can charge unit from PC, Laptop and wall socket USB adapter charger such as iPhone and HTC etc. And thats that! Hope I've helped!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Have For ipod Users. 14 Jun 2011
Verified Purchase
It uses a mini USB input for charging, unfortunately this means it does not recharge through the mains. Mine took about 2 hrs out of the box and came supplied with a single Mini USB cable to facilitate this.

I was actually quite surprised how small the thing is, about the size of a 3rd gen ipod nano.

The retractable mini USB out is handy for smartphones or the new PSP GO. Theres also a regular sized usb out for an ipod or anything else that uses proprietary connections down the other end. Its even capable of recharging two different devices at the same time but you'll probably run out of juice before both are done.

I mainly use it for my ipod touch and i can easily get about 2.5 times as much runtime out of it. Its also nice to be able to recharge my PS3 controllers without the need for long cables across the floor :)

Great for long distance trips too!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good as a backup 18 Nov 2011
Verified Purchase
I bought this product to supplement the horrid battery life of my HTC Desire HD, and the product does the job. On a full charge, it can just about recharge my phone to 100% (keeping my phone on standby).

The emergency pack is nicely sized, and not overly bulky and not too heavy. The provided USB cable is short enough to be rather portable.

Some things I disliked about it are:
1. Power button is too easily pressed accidentally: It has switched itself on while in my bag/jacket several times already. While it might not have "eaten up" much power, I think it could have been better designed.
2. Lack of power meter: There is no way to know how much charge there is left in the device. There is either charge still left (green) or empty (red), and no indicator of how long I can expect to charge my device. Even a fading green light to indicate the remaining charge would have been helpful.
3. I cannot charge this device while it is charging my phone: As a result, I need to charge them separately from the mains, requiring two AC-USB adapters.
4. It takes quite awhile to charge this device, up to several hours depending on the power source you are charging from. It also charges my phone rather slowly, about the same rate as when I plug my phone into my laptop via USB.
5. A minor, personal annoyance of mine: I don't have any devices which uses Mini-USB! I would have appreciated an in-built Micro-USB port instead, but this might not be the case for other users.

On the whole, I think it is a decent buy and definitely useful if you just need to extend the battery life of your devices.
