As you would expect for a device of this capacity for such a low price there are bound to be some drawbacks. Unfortunately, it was made immediately apparent when inserting the drive into my Mac.
Left formatted in FAT32, the drive took almost thirty minutes to transfer one 2.3GB file. No matter how you look at it, that is poor at best. I have numerous other flash drives of lower capacities which could easily have performed the same task in less than quarter of the time. I also tried it on a Win 7 machine with similar problems.
I decided to format the device into HFS+ (the native OS X format) and once again, the device took forever to transfer files. I haven't even attempted to transfer anything close to 20GB yet because I fear the estimated time to complete will be several hours.
Another annoying feature is the size, it's almost twice as wide as the actual male USB connector. This means when you plug it into a MacBook, you cannot physically connect anything else into the next USB port and I fear this will be the same of other laptops too.
It would seem the old adage is true - you get what you pay for!
+ Great capacity for the price
+ Solid construction
- Dreadful transfer speed
- Wide size so makes it difficult to use nearby USB slots.
If transfer speeds are important in any way, please be aware before you decide to purchase this.
