4.0 out of 5 stars Great for beginners, 13 Mar 2001
    By A Customer
If you are new to D&D (like me), then this product is a great introduction to the game. It comes with everything you need to get started, and there is barely any reading involved. It also comes with a set of dice... If you already have experience with the D&D game (ie. Second Edition) then just go and buy the Players Handbook, as you will likely pick up the game more quickly than us noob's ;-) There is only one draw back, the rules are very simplified, perhaps to much so. That is why this gets only 4 stars rather than 5. On a seperate note I thought the layout was great, the little 'read me first' sheet on top was very helpful with getting started. In conclusion the game is a good introduction to D&D if some what limiting (ie. You can only progress to second level, and it doesn't give much of a feel of roleplaying, just the hack 'n slash elements of the game.)

5.0 out of 5 stars A great start to the 3rd edition, 1 Dec 2000
By brownru@northlan.gov.uk (Motherwell, Scotland) - See all my reviews
For those of you wanting to start as 1st level PCs, and want an introduction to the world of the 3rd edition, then this is the place to start. You've got all you could ever want, dice, character sheets, characters and outine adventures. I've already tried it out with a bunch of novices and we had a great time. The only criticism would be that some of the adventures are a little bit on the simple side, and over far too quickly. However, if you also a new DM, then this is a great way of getting you feet wet, so dive in.

3.0 out of 5 stars This is a fairly decent game
This game is quite decent; however, it could do with a few improvements, mainly in the way everything is laid out.
