Dumbing Up, World Party's fifth album and the first since Robbie Williams stormed the charts with Wallinger's "She's The One", re-affirms that Lennon-esque urge for memory-latching melody and hope for global accord, best indicated by the "Dear Prudence" musicality and post-millennium apprehension of "Another 1000 Years". Dylan fans, meanwhile, will be tickled pink by the tragi-humorous "Tombstone Blues"-style ramble of "Who Are You", whilst the guitars of "What Does It Mean Now" will have Neil Young saying "Hey, no trespassing." Format:Audio CD
This is World Party'y 5th album and is equally as good as, if not better than it's predecessors. Another carefully constructed conceptual great.
People constantly compare Karl Wallinger to Dylan,Beatles, Neil Young etc. and well they might,however Wallinger's talents stand out on their own merit and Dumbing Up speaks volumes. There are very few artists that can deliver consistently good material but Karl Wallinger has again delivered the goods with his latest offering. ALL the tracks are excellent so to choose your favourites find out for yourself and get the album. You will not be disappointed.

Dumbing up is just what we've been waiting for,there is a taste of "Bang" & "Goodbye Jumbo" in this album it is also fresh and every bit Karl Wallinger. The mood to this album is layed back with a 60's flavour about it.This album should be added to your World Party collection.

You sometimes wonder why some bands stay pretty unknowned...And some others reach great success with so little talent...
For world Party it's hard to understand...
Bad promotion ?
I like this cd like all world party's cd's...But one song
(Another 1.000 years...) sounds so "Beatles " ...
No good for a band to pump so much on another one...They could at least hide it more...
For the rest everything is ok.Always good arrangments and melodies.
Not the best World Party album though.
