It's a shame that P Diddy decided to do this album, because it's really not what we should be remembering B.I.G. for. The majority of the material is spoiled by very boring producing, except for the Jazzy Pha, Scott Storch and Swiss Beatz tracks, and the remake of House of Pain. Biggie's lyrics are always fine, but does sound better on the original pressings i.e. "Drugs" sample sounds better on Lil' Kims track.

It would have been nice to hear really rare material from B.I.G. redone, for instance his rap on Heavy D's "Buncha N*ggas" or 354 & Big L "Real Gz" track.

Listen to this and then "Ready To Die" after it - remember B.I.G. for the latter album!

4.0 out of 5 stars The Greatest. Full Stop! 19 Dec 2005
Format:Audio CD
If you're a fan of hip hop you will forever hear the arguement about who is the greatest rapper of all time. Jay - Z, Nas, Eminem, Big Daddy Kane, Chuck D, KRS - One??? Nah mate, for me and for a lot of peeps who listen to Hip Hop, it's this guy... Still!

I was lucky enough to get a full copy of this early and it's very good. There appears to be 7 deleted tracks from the original track listing (it was supposed to be a double lp), but damn it still thumps.

Things kick off with 'The Most Shady' an Eminem produced and guested track also featuring Obie Trice and a much better P Diddy. Dude is rhyming in a Eminem style and pulls it off. Then comes The Swizz Beatz produced 'Spit Your Game' which is totally brilliant. I don't even like Swizz Beatz OR Bone Thugs, but I rate this tune highly. Just Blaze blesses 'Living In Pain' with Mary J and 2Pac. 'I'm With Wuteva' a menacing tune over a sample from the film Halloween is good, but doesn't even have a rap from Biggie on it???

There are some definate filler cuts and unnecessary interludes (hence 4 stars) and the final track with Korn is simply 'What the hell'!!!!! But the killer tracks have got to be the Bob Marley sampled 'Hold Ya Head' which is a remake of 'Suicidal Thoughts' and 'Just A Memory' with the Clipse which is a remake of 'You're Nobody (Till Somebody...)'. Pure class the both of them.

Overall a much better effort than 'Born Again' and should have been released instead of that poor effort really, but what happened to the other 7 tunes?

I still recommend you go and buy this and remember what tight lyrics really sound like.
