Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Terrific sales of their independent Cheshire Cat got Blink-182 signed to a major label (MCA) for 1997's Dude Ranch, which led to US radio hits ("Dammit" and "Josie") and platinum sales. No "sell-out" on the band's part, though, as Dude Ranch simply features another infectious collection of snotty vocals, punchy rhythms, vivid lyrics, and aggressive chords. San Diego producer Mark Trombino shines some of the scuffed edges, but this is still good ol' Blink at its sunny, effervescent best. Nice "emocore" spoof here ("Emo"), plus an odd knack for crafting bass-lines that recall--seriously!--New Order, and vocal harmonies that owe debts to the Beach Boys. --Mark Woodlief

Better recording than cheshire cat, yet still very raw and edgy compared to Enema of the State and Take of your pants...
Dude Ranch is by far the best album in blinks collection.

1.Pathetic. A Great opening song, fast beat, which is a pattern with all of the dude ranch songs, Good Comparison of voices with tom over-taking mark with his high pitch and very distinctive voice, 8/10

2.Voyeur. Tom sings lead to this very catchy song. Good Guitar, interesting lyrics! Good chorus when mark comes in with, "And I wish..." and also good with the "Nah Nah Naaaaah" 7/10

3.Dammit. Great song, great video, one of my favourites. Good vocals and lyris from mark with a catchy guitar riff from Tom. Great chorus, a general song about growing up, falling in and out of love, rejection etc. A great teen anthem! 9/10

4.Boring. Good opening guitar riff, catched up by the drums and bass. Again, Tom's voice is very didtinctive and gives Blink that great sence of rawness. Short song, still good. Watch out for the horse kissing at the end! 7/10

5. Dick Lips. A interesting song! Tom's voice, guitar and drums very put together! Good chorus and a generally good song. 8/10

6.Waggy. Guitar riff, marks voice and very catchy are the highlights of this song. A interesting harmonizing in the chorus. Good line "I'll just jack off in my room until then..." 9/10

7.Enthused. A hell of a song, one of the best. Good opening, Tom's catchy voice and fast drums bring the song together. Atually, this song isn't just good, its f**king amazing! Great beat with amazing lyrics and the best line, "Another boring story..." when everything goes quiet! 10/10

8.Untitled. Good follow up to Enthused. Tom sounds out of tune! Quiet to begin with but amazing when gets started! Vocals speed up, guitar kicks in, drums get fast. 9/10

9.Apple Shampoo. AMAZING!!! The life of a teenager all over again. 10/10

10.Emo. Odd yet extremely catchy! Towards the end, drums and guitar stop to reveal a quiet bass, folled by an explosion of mark and tom's shouting over each other! 8/10

11.Josie. JOSIE JOSIE JOSIE!!!What can i say, it is my all time favourite Blink 182 song! Great Verses from Mark, followed by amazing chorus vocals from Tom. A very realistic song, great video and just overall amazingness! 10/10

12.A New Hope. A song about Princess Leia! 7/10

13. Degenerate. Hilarious! 10/10

14.Lemmings. Another teen Anthem. Catchy chorus with good lyrics and vocals off Mark. 8/10

15.I'm sorry. I don't like the begining, but the rest of the song and the album in general makes up for that! Tom sings lead, a good ending for the album. 8/10

FOR ANYBODY WHO LOVES THE ORIGINAL BLINK 182 !!!

This is the greatest album I have ever listened to. Blink 182 are extremely funny and their music is amazing. Enema of the State is complete and utter pants compared to Dude Ranch. The sound is not that bad but it is pretty poor compared to Enema of the state. However, It does not change how good the album is. If you have bought The Mark, Tom and Travis show album you could be dissapointed that some of the songs are also on Dude Ranch. It does though sound better because for example in the song 'voyeur' they stop before the end of the song and that spoils it completely. This does not happen in Dude Ranch. A couple of the songs for this album are a break from Blink 182's norm and are a bit slower. My favourite songs are 'Enthused' and 'Degenerate' because they add a little originality into their usual very fast type of punk rock. As a last sentence I have to say "buy this album now if you want top class music entertainment!!!".

Blink 182 are my favourite band in the world, and to pick a favourite album by them is real hard because they're all fantastic. However, Dude Ranch takes it. This album IS the pop punk genre, this is the benchmark. it has a raw quality that the later over produced albums lack, and the vocal harmonies between Tom and Mark are the best i've heard from them. Also on this album, the lyrics are much better and more thoughtful than on previous, or even later records. This album opens with the best three song opening ever. First 'pathetic' fast upbeat opener, then 'voyeur', a clever song about spying on a woman from a tree. Then the best song on the album and the best blink song ever, 'dammit' The lyrics in this song are the best i've heard from blink, and Mark proves once again why he is the best singer/songwriter in the band, singing with heartfelt conviction and passion. The album also contains great pop punk songs such as 'josie'. 'waggy', 'apple shampoo' 'untitled'... wait, i could be here all day! they're all great. Trust me,if you want to here blink doing their best harmonies, singing their best lyrics and playing their best songs then this IS the album to buy. It may not be as poppy and commercial as Enema and TOYPAJ but it strikes a better balance between poppy and punk. Awesome!!!!

Hmmmmmmmm...
This is not Blink 182's best album, no. It's still good but just lacks the wow factor, plus it doesn't have Travis as the drummer. I don't like the rawness of the songs. Read more
