More About the Author

Andrew Morton is one of the world's best-known biographers and a leading authority on modern celebrity. He has been called 'the king of celebrity biographers.'

He had written 10 books over a decade before becoming an overnight sensation with the publication of his groundbreaking 1992 biography, Diana: Her True Story which for the first time revealed the unhappy personal life of the late Diana, Princess of Wales. His worldwide bestseller, translated into 35 languages, inspired films, documentaries and commentaries about the royal family, changing forever the way the public viewed this ancient institution. As Tina Brown declared in The Diana Chronicles: 'The journalist Morton most reminds me of is Bob Woodward.' It was only after Diana's tragic death in 1997 that Morton revealed that his explosive biography was written with her complete and intimate collaboration. Not only did Diana: Her True Story become a New York Times number one bestseller but his biography won him numerous awards, including Author of the Year by the British Book Awards, Investigative Reporter of the Year by What the Papers Say and Scoop of the Year by the London Press Club.

Morton, who has since written half a dozen New York Times and Sunday Times top ten best sellers, including four debuting at number one, continued to make headlines with his portrait of Monica Lewinsky, the young woman behind the blue dress in the Clinton White House.

His biography of Madonna was been hailed as an insightful critique of modern celebrity culture while his intimate portrait of David and Victoria Beckham exposed the private lives behind the public façade. Away from celebrity culture, he has written a biography of Kenya's second President Daniel arap Moi as well as a chronicling the race to save nine miners trapped below ground in Pennsylvania for his book, Nine for Nine.

Rarely out of the headlines, Morton created a sensation with his biography of sometime actor and full-time Scientologist, Tom Cruise, the book encouraging former adherents and others to speak out and protest about the organisation founded by science fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard. His latest biography on humanitarian and actress Angelina Jolie was water cooler conversation for weeks after its release in August 2010.

In November 2010, it was announced that Morton would be writing a book on the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton, for publication days after the ceremony in early May 2011.

He spends his time between London, New York and Hollywood.
