Easily one if not the best of all the allstars volumes. The person that gave this a bad review was clearly expecting something different. Anyone that knows appleblim will know the music he played back then. This mix showcases a techy, 2 step, dubby approach to the genre and still sounds as fresh as it did when it was released, it was definately the most original volume at the time. Starts off beautifully dubby and is mixed perfectly throughout. Highlights have got to be: gather by peverelist, suburbia by martyn, pretty bright light by RSD and ramadanman's refix of put you down by TRG. An absolute essential purchase, if you dont own this already you should!

First track is delightfully dubby, dark bassy tracks follow. Really gets going by about track 7. Perfect for a late night in.

a friend kindly got me into this last year (cheers Pete!) and i'm still absorbing the deep dark sounds to be found here, by personal favourites: Peverelist, 2562, Martyn and TRG amongst others. this is the best of the "dubstep Allstars compilations i've heard so far - prefer this to Geeneus' and Skepta's "Rinse" releases.

the Vol.6 mixed here by Appleblim starts off totally differently from most dubstep i've heard so far - with the extraodinary sounds by Peverelist with ultra dark, deep minimal tunes (that fans of proto dub-stepper:Artwork, or early Origin Unknown (from '96 on Ram) would probably also enjoy), then progresses through a good selection of various dub-step sounds and textures. this cd is more of a late night-in cd i'd say : not as upfront as Geeneus' Rinse Vol.1 for instance. Dubstep Allstars6 is a great taster of the UK dub sound circa 2007/8.i'm also loving Martyn's works (Vancouver etc) + Boxcutter's first two cds - more technical/cut-up but next level beats. also - keen dub-sters might enjoy the work by Mad Professor(incl.his Massive Attack remix lp from'95) or ,minimal dub techno lords Basic Channel, as well as the obvious Lee Perry + trojan records artists from the 70's) as part of the wider lineage before dub-step arrived.

p.s. is anyone has a cd of proto dubstepper Artwork's classic "red" EP (from 2005 i think) let me know.

The future of dance music and music in general. Burial should win the Mercury and this mix is Burial's "clubbier more up tempo hard as nails" older sibling.

Check out resident advisor podcast for a taster.

Top notch tunes.
