We've used many encounter guides and find them perfect for short weekend trips. The larger books mean you spend more time reading than doing. If you're after something which tells you the key things and provides some useful and interesting information, this is the book for you. The only criticism is that the Lonely Planet maps can be a bit disappointing, BUT if you've got a free map from your hotel or tourist office, you'll be sorted.

Dublin 25 Mar 2011
By Sandy
Format:Paperback
Excellent book, really helped me and my friends in Dublin. I like that it had a section 'what to do in 3 days in Dublin' (we were staying for 3 days!) and what to do in a rainy day (thankfully, we didn't need that). Well presented and easy to search.

Dublin Guide 14 Feb 2011

Very useful little book. We were in Dublin for four days and carried the book everywhere we went. The day plans were very useful and we ate at a couple of the restaurants suggested by the book.
