Product Description

Product Description

Dub 911 is the first studio album of all new material from the dub icon in 3 years and he sounds as fresh as ever. With hundreds of mixes under his belt during the 70's and 80's and production and engineering credit list that spans as many decades, Scientist continues to play a role in dub that will never be forgotten.

About the Artist

Scientis burst onto the reggae scene in the mid 70's with a reckless mixing style seemed to outdo even dub legend King Tubby's wildest extravaganzas. He began his career as an engineer at King Tubby's Jamacian recording studio in 1978. Shortly afterwards he became a protegee of King Tubby and swiftly gained a reputation for his unique mixing style. The Scientist soon became Jamacia's top recording engineer and worked with everyone imaginable including Dennis Brown, Barrington Levy, Freddie McGregor, Dean Frasier, LInval Thompson, Augustus Pablow, The Heptones andmany more.

hopeton overton brown, brand new dub from the one and only scientist. this is fantastic becos eventho this was done in 2006, it still sounds nice and old skool with musical instruments clearly audible giving a 70's,80's reggae dub vibe thats better than ever. in the notes theres the names of the band who provided the music that scientist takes and turns into a masterpiece, with heavy bass, interspersed percussion and dubby effects and echo, timing as ever being the defining genius of scientist. if you like scientist of old then this wouldn't disappoint!

Nothing extraordinary, but a solid dub set 1 Feb 2007
By Patrick G. Varine - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
There is nothing groundbreaking or extraordinary about this post-9/11 set from dub don Scientist. It's just a solid collection of dub grooves.

The album appears to be related to Sept. 11 in name only; the semi-controversial cover art (Bush in bed in his cowboy hat, Saddam poking out of his hole in the ground) is little more than an eye-catcher. Even the song "911" is just a paean to Rastafari, talking about 'birds in the trees,' and 'truer Rasta philosophy.' It's actually kind of a shame. The earthquaking potential of dub could have the ability to translate to an emotional reading of the events surrounding 9/11.

Instead we get some decent dubby tunes.
