Modern kettles seem to be some of the most poorly designed electrical appliances in the home. This is so nearly a good one, in that it's simple and there's no flimsy plastic lid mechanism to break. Unfortunately, the plastic measuring window has cracked after 2 years and the kettle now leaks. Not good enough when you could buy three cheap "do the job" kettles for the money.

This was a good kettle, but the plastic measurement gauge cracked so badly that the kettle started leaking and is now totally useless, just after the guarentee expired of course, no response from Dualit when contacted. Unfortunately very expensive when usable for a little over a year, very disappointing.

SOOO DISAPPOINTED 6 Aug 2007
I bought this kettle to match my much beloved toaster. I had read the reviews below about the water guage window, but I naively thought that if it was such a common fault, that the mighty Dualit would have rectified it by then. Obviously not. From the start, the kettle left water on the base when removed, which according to the manual is OK ...? It is now just over a year, and sure enough, I came into the kitchen yesterday to a worktop flooded with water. The plastic hasn't actually cracked, but a seal around it must have gone or something, as there was a steady trickle from the bottom of the window. I really can't believe Dualit are still selling these! I really would like another one, but won't buy one until they bring out a new model - even then with caution. Think I fancy the thermal kettles next :o)
BUY THIS AT YOUR PERIL!

bang, crack, wallop, and appalling after-sales service to boot :0(

The dualit viewing window does crack very easily if you fill your kettle with cold water again after it just boiled, which is a major design fault. Read more

Info on Dualit kettles
Yes this Dualit kettle does give trouble. The solution is to buy the other Dualit kettle which does not have a window and is all chrome. It works faultlessly. Read more
